Is PotG a genuine right wing zealot? I though he was simply a bit of a struggler on the chess board of life

He's Baker lite with arty references.

Most of the gammon are artless halfwits. This one thinks he's Melvin Bragg.

The words, how they’re delivered and who delivers them matters enormously.
If Trump had delivered that speech, we (or I at least) would be rolling in the aisles!
Biden with his background and reputation means it is more likely to be taken seriously.

Matters how? Will the poorly paid single mother be able to feed her kids with abstract promises? "No food on your plate but hey we're united!"

Taken seriously? In what way? Young teenagers in some shootout over some CIA delivered crack suddenly ends in "hold up boys, we need to restore the soul of the united states!"

I'm sure the words means something to his choir but to those who are sick and tired of hearing empty abstract promises, it makes no difference what he says.

Out goes an insane President, in comes a senile President. The USA is a joke.

Senile you say.

I'm sure you have access to a confirmed diagnosis and plenty of examples of speeches and tweets which confirm that Bidon is medically senile. Just post 'em here and you've won the internet today.

So Biden talks crap about bi-partisan healing despite it being the Pelosi and Schumer lead witch hunts that helped create this open division.

The problem is Biden's words don't match the last four years of the Democrats often corrupt actions.
Tyrone dear, time for bed.

To the individual cases and people you are talking about, it may not mean a lot, as you say.

But for lots of people listening, they would take more seriously HIS INTENTION TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT the plight of the people you are (quite rightly) concerned about. He has already stated his intention to tackle the sort of things you are talking about. I read an article today by Bernie Sanders in one of our national newspapers (the Guardian) detailing the sort of things they ought to be doing. He is the incoming Chair of the Senate Budget Committee and probably the closest to a Communist there is in American Politics - I am not an expert so that is probably an exaggeration - but if they can’t or don’t make a difference, it will be because Republicans don’t allow them to.

But the Democrats seem to be in a good place, so here’s hoping......

Bill Clinton stated there would be universal healthcare if he got elected, George W Bush stated they would cut government spending, Obama stated he would introduce universal healthcare, Donald Trump stated he would build a big fat wall that the Mexicans would pay for. None of which happened. If we look at more abstract promises, which seems to be Bidens primary tool, Obama said he would "end the partisan division" - that ended well - and Trump said he would "make America great again", which also ended well.

But hey lets be grateful, if it wasnt possible to fool people every fourth year, the holy religion of democracy would not be so holy anymore.

Silly old bat

So senile, he managed to deliver a 14 minute speech, and no autocue, without stuttering or stumbling once, despite suffering a speech impediment when he was younger.

Is he actually Baker lite? I have been told he has two accounts (one for being a right wing dick, and the other for being a dick)

The Democrats will have the majority in the Senate and the House.

If they don't make a difference it won't be on the Republicans.

Biden has been in a position of power for 40 years and a VP for eight.

All the problems that face the US today, he's been part of the system creating them.

That he was part of a team that created an environment that allowed a political nobody like Trump to gain power says a lot.

If the President is from one party and the rest of the set up (the Senate etc) is controlled by the other party, the President will not be able to do what he wants if the rest of the system are against it.

If you have a Democrat President who wants to bring in stringent gun control and bring an end to Capital Punishment but the Republicans control everything else, it’s not going to happen. It’s not the President’s fault if he is prevented from doing what he wants.

Senate is split 50/50.

Democrats have the tie breaking vote.

So if every time a vote was cast and it went along party lines the Democrats can push it through.

Just to put things into context for those who don't know all the facts...

Joesph Biden only became the new US President today because ultimately the Democrats couldn't field ANY other candidate among their ranks that would stand a chance of defeating Donald Trump in the election, so Biden junior  got the job, so basically he is a stool pidgeon. He may be a better alternative than the outgoing one but don't expect him to radically change anything, basically it'll now be boring politics for the next few years which is how the establishment like it to be.

No, Vice President Kamala Harris is the real deal for the Democrats, and they know it, they're just waiting for Biden to have a sidelining illness and in she'll step. Democrats couldn't have her running for the Presidency in the election itself as there wouldn't have been enough votes for her to defeat Trump, so this was their next best option to get her to the White House summit, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out, as will the impeachment trial of the Donald.
