Streaky bacon, grilled to within an inch of it's life. Bacon sarnies should go crunch when you bite in.

Have a go at micowaving bacon - surprisingly good.

Just layer each slice between a sheet of paper towel.

Fat goes crispy, meat stays moist.

I'm another bacon microwaver. 2 slices for 2.5 minutes on a plate, drip any remaining fat onto the plate and then into the sandwich the bacon goes for me.

I fry it but add no oil to the pan (get pan v hot first).....and yes, has be crispy. Streaky bacon cooks much crispier than back. Leave for a minute or two on kitchen roll after cooking to crisp up even more [emoji16]

This, and insert into two slices of buttered sourdough bread, add Marmite for extra bite, and some finely sliced red onion to complete. Then scoff.

I always cut the fat off the rashers, snip them into lengths and use them to fry the bacon.

Agreed you need a substantial pan (Mrs Jakarta has a Le Creuset which is now some 40 years old and has acquired a little bit of seasoning).

Can't decide between traditional white bread butty with HP sauce or a decent BLT but always on the crispy side of the equation.

Anyway let the Boys decide...

Loads of griddled bacon until it's nice and crispy around the edges, then placed between 2 thick slices of brown bread and smeared with English Mustard.

Two slices of bread, unbuttered, or two slices of buttered toast? Ketchup or no ketchup?

Never have ketchup, are you insane? It’s HP with bacon. And no imposters, got to be the real thing. I literally score establishments on that basis, including feedback to the management.

This. There are certain food standards that are simply non-negotiable

Little story. On safari twenty years ago, dawn start then finished with breakfast cooked for us in the bush. Full English, and as we sat down to eat I said wouldn’t it just be the icing on the cake if we had some HP...chef pulled out a bottle from his basket. A complete legend, arguably the most memorable meal I’ve ever had.

Bacon which isn't crispy hasn't been cooked properly. You might as well have microwaved it you animal.

Streaky bacon should be crispy back bacon not. I would have back bacon with a full English. Crispy streaky bacon for a sandwich.

Middle bacon, fried in a little oil using a heavy pan. Not so easy to find middle these days although M&S have started selling it again. Long back is also great in a bacon sandwich. Don't bother with supermarket bacon - it is all so thin and horrible.

Best sauce - tomato and Worcestershire. Lea & Perrins used to sell this but seem to have stopped so I make my own.

Bread should be a good old fashioned Hovis thick sliced white loaf - no nutritional value but just holds together so well and doesn't detract from quality bacon.
