You're all trying to compare perfect diamonds. Two Tone was the pinnacle to whichall others aspire. To compare is to be spliitting hairs.

We will never hear the like again

C'mon, THINK man. Anybody who got fired up on punk, MUST have found 2Tone a poor 2Dimensional substitute, if punk meant anything at all. The Specials were hyped by the NME beyond all reason. As Terry Hall went on to prove in the Fabulous Bingo Brothers with their one smash single 'Ma Brought The Donkey In From The Yard'. Dopey FunBoyThree dull twattwattwattwat that he was. The Selector were unlistenable. No tunes whatsoever. Madness were comic book patronisers of skinheads. The Beat were one-hit wonders with the most GLORIOUS hit 'Mirror In The Bathroom'. still cherish that 12 incher to this day. A beautiful classic.

And... RELAX :smokin:

Toss and bollocks. You know nothing.

Songs like 'concreate jungle' and 'monkey man' were political epics. Compare that to a load of middle class kids with safety pins in their expensive jeans shouting "f***".
Ska was probably the first genuine colaboration between black and white working classes in the 60's and 70's.

Pioneers, Long Shot Kick de Bucket
Shanty Town, Toots and the Maytals
Too Much Too Young, the Specials
Rudy, by lots of people

and the all time classic...Harry J Allstars, liquidator

And I'm not letting that drop about Terry Hall. You might not want to go for a drink with him but he's a british music legend. He recorded an absolute winner called 'the Problem Is' with the (admittedly hit and miss) Dub Pistols a couple of years ago. What have Sham 69 been up to?

2Tone released some great tunes...

Ghost Town - The Specials
The Prince - Madness
Do Nothing - The Specials
Too Much Pressure - The Selecter
Missing Words - The Selecter

...to name but a few.

*NERD ALERT* - Mirror in the Bathroom was NEVER released on 2Tone, it was released on Go-Feet. The Beat only ever released one single on 2Tone - Tears of a Clown c/w Ranking Full Stop.

But for the real ska, you want to list (as above)
Monkey Man - Toots & The Maytals
Pressure Drop - Toots & the Maytals
It Mek - Desmond Dekker
Phoenix City - Roland Alphonso
Long Shot Kick de Bucket - The Pioneers
Let Your Yeah Be Yeah - The Pioneers
Double Barrel - Dave & Ansil Collins
Liquidator - Harry J All Stars
Elizabethan Reggae - Boris Gardiner
Big Five - Prince Buster
Al Capone - Prince Buster
Wash Wash - Prince Buster

...classics all from my DJing days at the Old Vic in Ship Street. :)
