Bennetts Field Temporary Car Park at the Amex

Am I alone in thinking we wouldn't have seen this post in the Dick Knight era. You appear to be a little anti club lately Lord B!
It's not at all anti-club. They are probably doing the best that they can with the very difficult situation that has arisen now that the Falmer Academy site isn't available for parking.

I don't really know enough about what the thinking is ... since (as far as I know) the Falmer For All team no longer meets the Club to discuss such matters.

Isn't Bennett's Field/Church Field the reason there is no slip road on to the southbound A27?

Any serious congestion on the Falmer flyover could seriously impede access to the stadium by everyone - including the park and ride buses and coaches, as well as the cars aiming for Bennetts Field and Southern Water. The delays could be serious.

So how would this impact emergency service vehicles, should they be required? I imagine they would be caught up in the same congestion, or is there a contingency plan / alternative route available?

Hmmm. If Lord B is worried, then so am I.

Where the hell IS this Bennetts Field anyway ? I can't see it named on any maps.
It's immediately next to the stadium, right up against the A27 and next to the Falmer flyover. Entrance for the 650 cars will be though the coach park. And 650 parking spaces is far more than the number of spaces needed for what Bozza calls "our directors and associates". It's described in the planning application as hospitality parking. My guess is that some (if not all) 1901 Club members will have the use of it.

Sorry Lord B, I've just never heard you say anything negative about any of the stadium planning applications before?

And why should the Falmer for all team still be in discussions, the stadium is built now and Paul S has got more important things to do like scream at pitch invaders, then invade pitches, then tell us lot on here who are having a laugh to get a life... Etc

Also, I know this is a stupid question, but is Bennetts Field just that - a field? If so, come the first bit of autumn rain most of the cars are going to have to be towed out with tractors.

Interesting, thanks. Did they buy it very recently? What is their history? I thought the church were dead against selling it and dead against it being used as something like car parking. Are the Bennett brothers wags? Too many questions?

I don't think the exit traffic will be too bad, as long as the traffic that arrives from the south, parks in the southern parks, traffic going to Woodingdean parks in the Field etc.
Remember more traffic exits the Uni every day in the evening, competing with traffic exiting up the Uni slip from the A27.
From 4.30 up to about 6.30 the traffic is difficult but it does move, and then we get to the crossroads at the Downsman which has been fixed, hasn't it.

If Bennett's Field doesn't go ahead then that would put even more pressure on the three Park & Ride sites (assuming the racecourse goes ahead). The three P&R sites have space for around 1700 cars in total so even working on an average of two people per car that will leave a hell of a lot of people that need to either use public transport or to find somewhere else to park.

Even with another 650 spaces, the numbers are troubling, are they not?

If it were to be refused then it would put a MASSIVE spanner in the works, reduced capacity until a solution is found? All us ruffians have to come by train/cycle/bus anyway.

Trains and buses are not allowed to stop on matchday and away fans must walk from their City/town in case they scare the bats
