It looks like the loan contract ends today.

Transfermarkt are usually on top of player contracts, and seemingly get a reliable direct automatic data feed from somewhere.

Anyway, I'm sure this will be clarified soon enough.

I don't think [the bit I have bolded] is the case at all (not least because I doubt very much there is any such thing as a "direct automatic data feed" of player contracts, which are a private matter between player and club). I'm pretty sure transfermarkt simply uses club "experts" (ie fans) to keep their information up-to-date. Why do I believe that? Within the last couple of years one such fan started to ask me various Albion-related questions via DMs on my Albion academy twitter account.

He asked me a question three days before Christmas, and I explained that while I was happy to help, I was preparing for family visiting over the holidays and he would have to be patient. A couple of days later (on Christmas Eve) he asked me again - I answered him, somewhat grudgingly. And then on Christmas morning he asked me a different question.

After answering about 8 more questions over the next few weeks, I asked him if transfermarkt were willing to start paying me (I'm more than happy to share what I know with fellow Albion fans through the likes of NSC, but I'm not inclined to become an unpaid researcher for a large commercial website).

So, returning to Ben White, I would guess the site has probably had that date since the loan was first announced, and until there is greater clarity over the plans for both the Premier League and the Championship, nothing will be finally decided. If both divisions do resume as currently planned, I would think there is every probability that White's loan will be extended.

There are some Leeds fans praising the club for not being difficult and allowing the extension but of course there will always be those coming out with the big club nonsense. I tend to read these as desperate straw clutching as they want to keep him but deep down know they won’t.

Club have played a blinder on this one as clearly the path and loans they secured for him have developed him brilliantly and we either have a promising young player coming to our squad or a significant cash in to one of the big clubs (personally think they will be a jump too far at least his stage).

So much hinges on staying up, with our academy players now beginning to bare fruit, we could become a victim of our own success. We really do not want to become a feeder club for the like's of Bournmouth or Leeds, that would be unjust.

It really is paramount we stay up this year, I really think we can build on this season.
We could be very good next year, with the team we are building here.

It seems that if the season is completed there will be relegation.

The discussion to be had is whether there is still relegation if the season restarts and then is called off again before it ends.

Meeting on Thursday according to the DT (and you can guess which club are featured in the photo above the article) :

The Premier League faces the most significant remaining challenge to Project Restart on Thursday, with relegation-threatened clubs expected to oppose the plan to implement a points-per-game calculation if the season is curtailed.

The bottom six clubs are unconvinced about the merits of relegation being decided on clubs’ average number of points per game should the Covid-19 pandemic force a second halt to games following the proposed restart date of June 17. On Saturday the Premier League returned no positive results for the first time, in the fourth round of testing, which examined 1,130 samples for coronavirus.

Although there is no vote yet proposed for this Thursday on the question of curtailment, it is anticipated that the Premier League board will have to decide on an outcome by the time that the action resumes.

Premier League clubs have been advised that they would face serious legal challenges from the clubs in the Championship promotion positions should they be denied a place in the top flight.

There is no appetite for expanding the size of the league and the Football Association has made clear that it would veto any attempt to deny Championship clubs being promoted. Nevertheless only seven clubs are required to block the new rule being added to the Premier League’s regulations.

The Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden, announced on Saturday that live sport would return from June 1. The Premier League says it has now devised the stage-three protocols with the Government that will pave the way for the resumption of games.

Top-flight clubs were left in no doubt by Dowden that in return for the Government allowing them to resume, the Premier League in particular would be expected to bail out less wealthy leagues that have been forced to abandon their seasons because of the financial hardships of playing games behind closed doors.

Dowden said: “I set two challenges for football’s return. First, that a reasonable number of remaining Premier League games would be broadcast free to air and, second, that the financial benefits of returning would be shared throughout the entire football family.”

Among the games to be broadcast free to air will be the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton, with Dowden saying he hopes this would discourage supporters from travelling to other people’s houses or to the match itself. The fixture is one of at least five that have been identified by Mark Roberts, Britain’s most senior football police officer, as matches which should be moved to neutral venues.

Discussions over the neutral-venues option are continuing between Roberts, local authorities and the Premier League. Dowden said clubs and supporters must obey the final decision taken by police on the matter.

There were complaints from Leeds that they were becoming a feeder club for Bournemouth when they sold Lewis Cook, so things can change pretty quickly in football. PLB might be in the Championship themselves next season after all.

Of course things can change too quickly for some people’s tastes. Personally I could almost take relegation if someone could promise me that neither Oxford nor Portsmouth would be promoted

Agreed. If we can just muddle through to safety in this fractured season then the future really does look bright for us. Far more so than most of the teams in the bottom of the Premier League in my opinion.

In the main I agree, however, TB refused to sell both Stephens and Dunk when they wanted to go. I think whatever our position next season, White won’t go.

He either stays here or goes to a much bigger club than Leeds
