I was under the impression this lads future is seen as a DMF , so if Stephens does move on he’ll probably be starting from day one

This is what I am thinking , Bladders. We have a surfeit of very good CBs, and a good conveyor belt of young ones. If Ben is to be a regular starter for us, it will be at dmf, a position we are not overly blessed with.

Could be a tedious summer unless Uncle Tone slaps on a price tag - maybe £50m? - to warn off suitors.

The transfer window closes on.... October 5.

Bottom line is Leeds couldn't afford him.

You have absolutely no idea how much Leeds are going to throw at their squad, so you can’t be sure they can’t afford him.

If they are sensible then no they certainly can’t afford him but this is the MIGHTY Leeds, who may even surpass Fulham and Villa in their spending to rebuild their squad of loanees, old men and Championship quality players

The club along with this article and the twitter post which they deliberately included Leeds hashtag is a statement made without any hysteria. The way we conduct ourselves in public is without doubt one of the best in the business. Leeds will be in no doubt he is ours and will remain ours. Anyone who believes White doesn't already know this and understands the position is deluded. He deserves a better contract and will be given one to reflect his progress.

Leeds have to be seen, to their fans, to make noises but all along they have put the caveat in the press, he's ours to sell and we are not willing to. I can see a release clause in his new contract which would mean he knows if he is the player he is being touted as, a move to a big club (Leeds aren't) will be forthcoming.

Or he signs the new contract, which according to Leeds fans we have been trying to get him to sign, even though it hasn't yet been discussed as Ashworth mentioned

Said this yesterday its an interesting statement of intent, might take a few weeks before Leeds fans realise its not going to happen and move on. Also in agreement that I think our board level team is one of the best in the prem.

not sure if that is sense to the club. He is not a ball playing centre half but is robust and the best at heading both offensively and more importantly defensively. So not good against the City's of this world but better against the Burnley's . He is probably the only one that does not get bullied and that is one of our weaknesses.

Anyone know what Clarke is like heading the ball?

Duffy is probably the best purely defensive player we have, or at least as good as Dunk; however, the only time I can remember Potter starting Duffy in preference to Webster was the home game against Muff. White is far more of a Potter type player.

One of the latest exchanges from their thread on WACCOE

Money every time..........that's football. If the lad gets a massive offer from a top 4 club that we obviously can't match he'll be 'thanks for everything Leeds' great memories and all that etc etc.

That's not being a ****......it's human nature. :whocare:

Maybe he has bought into the Bielsa cult and understands there are actually things more important in life than just money?

I reckon he'll either end up at us or a top 6 club will come in for him and if one did then that would be massively tempting for him.

One thing I'll be surprised of if he ends up sitting on the bench at Brighton. That would just be a waste but that's all they seem to be offering right now. They have no idea what they have.

We are a top 6 club. More so we are Leeds United. Can we all start to throw off the past 16 years and remember who the **** we are once more?

Pretty level headed overview! Love us to stick a ludicrous Release Clause of £96m on him to see who's going to nibble. In Tony, Barber and Ashworth we trust!

I'd go further than that and say The Duffatron is probably the best purely defensive players in the league.

Burnley would crawl over broken glass for him.
Unfortunately, for valuation purposes, they're one of the few teams that know what the want and don't have delusions of grandeur.

We would expect our ceo to making the same noises if we were in the same position, they have to appease their fans, especially ones that aggressive and entitled. Leeds will have had dialogue throughout his loan and they would know without doubt the situation as would White.

I have given my reasons why i believe Leeds can't afford him and explained it. Not to hard to grasp is it ? You are entitled to your opinion but simply saying this is Mighty Leeds is pretty lame and frankly pointless drivel.

You're right I had forgot about the mood music Leeds will have to play to show at least they tried!

You have a history of being wrong about so much in what you post, so I say again you do not have a clue how much Leeds will be spending. Yes you are entitled to an opinion but dismissing other posters opinions, given how wrong you often are, as being “drivel”, is pretty ironic

I feel like we need a separate thread for deluded Leeds responses... "We could lose him" - Sorry Ian, didn't know you could lose something you never had?

[tweet]1284761052790562817[/tweet]

“Where Kinnear believes Leeds might just be ahead of some of their Premier League rivals, or even Brighton themselves if they do try to keep White, is that he has made Elland Road his home over the past year”

Ahead of ‘even Brighton themselves’ ? HTF does that work?

I think like what a fellow poster has said, it's all noise and appeasing their fans. You're trying to win against a professional poker player, and 2 of the most level headed, promising businessmen and football brains in Barber and Ashworth. You won't win, Leeds.
