I'm not too sure where he'll fit in unless we're expecting a departure or two. I couldn't blame him if he does want to stay at Leeds. Big club, guaranteed starter, world-renowned coach, existing relationship with fans and colleagues etc. If someone is willing to pay £30m for him I'd be inclined to accept it. The risk comes in how we spend it.

Certainly, the more we can get the better. However, we've all seen so many championship stars struggle to adjust to the PL. If Leeds were to spend that sort of cash on a single, unproven player at PL level, that'd be some gamble.

Popular opinion seems to be that Duffy will be moving on this summer. Nothing in media about it but it would make sense for both club and player.

The trouble is, Duffy doesn't get much game time. Will White be content with what could potentially be a bit part role or would he want to go somewhere he's a guaranteed starter? Either way, I can't see Leeds coming up with that much cash when they surely need reinforcements elsewhere.

Ben White

I think the formation over the last two games will be telling as to where he fits in.

352 would be my guess with Webster Dunk White/ burn playing as a 3 next year typically

Duffy will probably move on and Clarke will be with us for cover next year

White is a very different player to Duffy and as such we’d probably see a back 3 more

If he does end up staying, and I think he will, we should all put a fiver in to a pot so we can take out a double page spread in the local paper full of the tweets about him being Leeds through and through.

Now that is a marvellous idea!!

The fact that White can move from a centre back position to defensive midfielder, will give us so many options. I can see us playing three centre backs at times with Lamptey playing right wing back and Bernado or burn playing left wing back. White then moving into the defensive midfield role at times will be like a new midfield signing. Bissouma can then maraud forward more with either Propper or Stephens alongside White. McAllister, Trossard and Maupay up front.
Also, Webster has played right back on occasions and so we could shift from a back three to a back four and push Lamptey forward. We could do this half way through games just to confuse the other team, which is typical Potter.
I can see Duffy getting very limited game time and so he may push for a move. I know of one Yorkshire based club that are going to need a new centre back. £20m and he's yours Leeds.
We can then put this £20m towards our otherwise modest transfer kitty to buy a large mobile centre forward we've needed for the past couple of years to replace Murray.
So in fact, not only do we get a new centre back/ defensive midfielder option, we also weaken a bottom half rival, and free up some transfer kitty for other areas.
Let's not forget that Lamptey and McAllister are like two new signings for the new season, as well as the new Messiah, Ben White.
So, we have very largely integrated our new signings into our team already. Those teams that need strengthening will be behind the curve on this.
I don't get why anyone would think that we'll sell White.

In the circumstances I think the only fair and reasonable thing to do is make BW take the Garth Barry Test and stand on Brighton beach in a blue and white striped shirt with a ball under his arm and a Seagull on his head and see if Dick Knight recognises him.

Then everybody's happy, right?

Duffy could go to Leeds for £15m. Job done.
White stays with us and, if he's as good in the PL as he's been in the Championship, then he'll go for a bigger fee next summer to a top six club. Job done.
Meanwhile, we have Dunk and Webster, and a litany of CBs in reserve. Job done.

If the ‘5 subs per game’ thing persists, which there are rumours it might, then PL football will continue to move towards a scenario where there’s more playing time for more players.

So even if someone’s not necessarily a ‘starting 11’ player, their chances of being involved are good - which could help mitigate any of the Ben White Bench Warmer risk you’re worrying about.

But again, forget the football aspect, why accept an offer when:

1) his value could potentially double after a season
And 2) we would be strengthening a rival?

That doesn’t make any sense.

Correct, if this lad fulfils his potential we’d have a terrific footballer capable of playing anywhere across the back and CM.

It’s exactly why Tony invested so much in our academy.

That some would be willing to accept a paltry bid for him makes no sense (who would we buy for that price who’d be as good anyway).

Leeds only option of keeping him is to make a crazy offer. It can’t be ruled out completely.
