I imagine he’ll be pretty impressed with quality of his team mates when he turns up for training in Lancing. Maupay, Trossard and Connolly running at him with Murray challenging him in the air will be a big step up from Patrick Bamford and the other Leeds forwards.

He might even want to go back to Leeds :lolol:

Stayed pretty quiet on this one but given it quite a bit of thought.

1- he’s contracted to us for the next two years.
2- he’s seen as an asset of the future both on the field and off it (value wise)
3- a valuation of £30-40m is justified given the season he has had, his age, the interest generated but largely due to his potential.
4- he is unproven at PL level but does appear to have every chance of making the step up
5- he’s from Poole and hardly been around the brighton squad for the last 3 years so has no emotional tie
6- statements like he’s “Leeds through and through” are unfounded
7- statements that he wants to stay at Leeds are unfounded
8- he would likely be fighting for a starting place initially at Brighton
9- he would be a nailed on starter at Leeds
10- he would be a back up at Liverpool (maybe)
11- his current contract must be on the lower side of the squad scale
12- I’m pretty sure Leeds would make him one of their highest earners
13- I doubt brighton would match point 12 wages for a player that is set to fight for his place initially
14- BW may need to feel he’s valued at brighton and will want to be rewarded accordingly
15- he is a brighton player until we say so or until his contract expires.

Ultimately he’s on his way back but I can realistically see a transfer request coming in if he’s being told by Leeds that they will offer him £45k pw and brighton are planning on letting his current contract ride. Brighton then may need to get into negotiations for a player that was a fringe asset which now requires rewarding off the back of the previous season while not knowing his PL ability, purely to remain the owners of a ‘potential world class asset’.

Alternatively we tell him to prove himself in the PL and then he’ll be rewarded.

Could come down to agents.

If Leeds make an offer, we can be sure there will be another offer from someone else.

I think we'll be able to offer him £45k pw if he signs a new four year contract. I think he'd be very foolhardy to hand in a transfer request as we know what good that did for Stephens.
I think our biggest jeopardy is if he doesn't sign a new contract as it will mean that we'll have to sell in 12 months time, although he'd have to bear 12 months of being underpaid.
We hold all the aces, Leeds hold none.

Of course we are able to offer him 45k per week.

But the question is do we want to.

Leeds certainly would. Would we pay someone that much for two/four years not knowing if he’ll be a PL starter or not. It’s a gamble which we might wish to take.

It is all down to Tony Bloom obviously but i would guess that if he wants young players to come through for us from the Academy so he does not want to buy players for 40 mill then he is worth more to keep him and the good thing about Lamptey for us is other young prospects will think they can get first team football. I can`t see him letting White go unless its ridiculous money .Like other posters have said White could be the perfect player to take over the Stephens position .

Leeds can’t offer him anything unless the player puts in a transfer request, which would then be refused. Obviously there are whispers but formally it is against the rules to offer anything.
Barber protested about Spurs listening to Norwich when Pilchard was on his way to us.

They also see themselves as an irresistible investment opportunity for any number of billionaire foreign investors so less than the Premier League title next year will be deemed as failure. Arrogant???Deluded???Leeds???

But they have already won next year's premier league, with a record points total. That's what their fans said.

Omg my eyes hurt - are they that thick that they are literally saying about ‘losing him to Brighton’ - FFS

I’ve not seen one Leeds fan say ‘hey thanks Brighton for loaning is a great player - he’s really helped us win promotion - fair play. Would love to sign him permanently, but we’ll see’

****ing arrogant Yorkshire again. The way they’re patronising our club is embarrassing for them. I know I’m gonna look forward to playing them next season...

As for White, let’s see how he does in the prem if we keep him. There’s a lot of hype coming mainly from Leeds fans and we all know they aren’t the most grounded fans around...

He's not likely to be a regular starter straight away at Brighton (unless Dunk finally gets his big money moves) - and yes, the step up to the PL is a biggy and no matter how good he is he's going to get skinned from time to time by top strikers; he'll learn!

He's on contract to us for two more seasons (I think) but whether we up his money or not, he will be even more valuable to us with a PL season under his belt - so why not let him get that experience (and make the mistakes to learn from that he's inevitably going to make) elsewhere? Another season long loan to Leeds, they pay all his wages (and we probably should give him a rise) and charge Leeds for the loan - say £5M for the privilege

You’d certainly want to extend his contract if you loaned him out again.

Good idea but let’s make that 10million

Unfortunately, as you say, there will be very very very clear ‘whispers’ to try and sway the player. It’s only a little example of the corruption / gamesmanship in football but it happens all the time!
