Here we go - let's hound out another striker.

When Harty said on the phone in to one caller "So do you worry about his goalscoring record?", I was thinking "No, but I worry about the fans' reaction to his goalscoring record".

Clearly he's not going to score twenty a season, but maybe he can improve that side of his game. To say his touch was shit was a joke - he seemed to control most of what was pinged at him and hold the ball up well. The fact that Robinson and Cox were stuck out on the wing and nowhere nearby was hardly his fault.

Perhaps some day some fans will appreciate that this type of striker can be quite useful for helping others score goals...

give the bloke a chance FFS.

After fifteen minutes I started to wonder why we signed him, as his first touch was woeful. However, I thought that he looked loads better as the game progressed. Very few players of his build ever look graceful.

Our problem at the moment is not the qualty of the players, but the lack of confidence and self-belief. Robinson had golden chances to win both of the last two games.

One particular grumble that I have is Kuipers taking so long over his kicks, when we need to put weak opposition under pressure, and the full-backs taking so long over throw-ins.

He did well with the piss-poor service he received. No complaints from here.

I said some pretty savage stuff about him before the game but do be fair, he looked like he could do the proverbial job. He held the ball up well, linked up the play and his passing was okay, kept it simple. He worked hard too. Thought all in all he looked as if he could only improve for games and will give him a chance on todays evidence.

If we can put some decent crosses into the box from the wings I think he will cause problems. Just lumping the ball up to him and hoping he'll control it, hold it up, then pass it to one of our players is asking a lot for even Premiership class striker!

The key to getting the most out of him is getting the midfield to link with him quicker and in more numbers. Give the bloke a chance, he's putting the effort in, and hopefully a goal will come soon to give him a boost.

Tell you what, I was mighty relieved with his performance, today.

After all the horrendous stuff I've heard about what gash he is, I thought he looked ok. He DID hold the ball up WELL, Easy, laid off a few nice touches and passes. But that 'lay-off' to an invisible Albion player towards the end, when all he had to do was beat the keeper, was a tad embarrassing.

He's tall, he frightened the Rotherham backs and did a job. Just wish Jake had bothered to turn up today.

I thought that he offered us something else that we have been mising since Revell got injured with his height and ability to unsettle the defenders, Are we going to have a witch hunt against JR who is obviously lacking in confidence at the moment and drive him out.

How would i know?I'm pissed.
It's unfortunate though that when he was through on goal and only needed to turn and shoot (only the keeper to beat) he decided to lay it off.Obvious from that why he doesn't score.Lets hope Wilkins can get him to be more ruthless, though somehow i doubt it.

All I have to go on is pre-match reports until y'day. All the Wycombe fans at work spotted this transfer and came to have a damn good laugh at my expense. They said he was absolutely rubbish; no touch, no goal-scoring instincts etc etc when he played for them. Couldn't believe he was still playing league football infact. Tried to find some recoil but my position was overun by the bombardment of sarcasm I received. Some of you seem to have witnessed what they did. Ow dear, another turkey seems to be feathering our nest......

Don't believe the hype, Steve, he seemed better than what they were saying. Though he hasn't got a goal-scoring instinct, that's for sure.

Lets give the guy a chance. Jesus. It is 1 game he's had. By the way does Kurt Nogan still play football. He may be mid 40's but he knows where the onion bag is, or was !!

f***ing HILARIOUS

i thought mccammon was lacking in talent, but this guy just takes the piss

worked his arse off though, did a job

but he's still shit!

Nice that you can work that out after seeing him over just ninety minutes! Let's get you on the coaching staff, they need someone with your fast processing brain to spot our future talent.

If Savage is the answer to our goalscoring problems, then I'm not quite sure I understood the quesion. He looks woeful, and I'm frankly amazed that anyone could think any different.

Touch: Awful
Aerial power: Weak
Holding up play: Non-existant
Goalscoring instincts: See above

For a big lump, he doesn't even have the saving grace of putting himself about a bit. And can anyone explain to me why, when we had a free kick on the edge of their box in the 2nd half, did Savage choose to stand behind the Rotherham wall, hands on hips, motionless, about 12 yards away from the ball ? Could someone (perhaps during the course of this week) please take him gently by the hand and show him where the FAR f***ing POST is ? Not much to ask.

He lived down to my expectations in every conceivable way, and makes Gatting look like van Basten. Unless he improves about 244%, I don't want to see him again.

Another person destined for the Albion's coaching staff with their insight and ability to rate a player after seeing them for just ninety minutes.
What game were you watching?
Touch: average
Aerial power: average
Holding up play: good
Goalscoring insticts: how many chances did he actually get?
