I just heard that balti pies are being phased out, as nobody is buying them.

Unfreakinbelievable.

There's no way Barber-out should be allowed to do this, esp not now, not in balti pie weather .

Save the balti.

No ones buying them? They're constantly sold out!

This must be a windup shirley?

Definitely not, a 1901er just told me, and they got it straight from the horses... .
It could be a lounge thing, but that's what they were told.

Nooooooo....this has ruined my day. My favourite by far. You have to get them while you can as they are nearly always the first to sell out in Dicks and ESU......seriously this is bad news.
Pretty tippy tappy footie, Harvey's and a Balti at The Amex.....heaven.

My 2nd favourite after the chilli ones.

Surely they'll keep one or the other at least?

This is ridiculous, I can't even get a Balti at half time let alone after the game. Never been able to get a pint of Hophead after the match either.

All this 'it's not seeling out' nonsence is just bullshit if you ask me. The club has decided we're being spoilt with all this choice so the best way to claw back the 8 mill loss is to streamline the grub

They're the worst ones so it's no surprise. Dry and fake curry tasting. They should replace them with a Beef Madras one.

The man has got his fingers in too many.......!
All this nonsense about making very small returns from pie sales. Oh yeah. Who is he trying to kid. I am no expert but would guess that Piglets Pantry produce these pies for about 50p and sell to the club for about £1.50 ( very broadstroke figures I know )Piglets then have to pay all their costs out of that margin. The selling price at the Amex is £3.90.
We have already seen the attractive bespoke blue packaging replaced by an ' off the shelf ' thinner, basic ( available in all Cash and Carry's and catering wholesalers ) version. Much cheaper and nastier and improving profit margin. The original packaging had the pie varieties detailed on the box, your variety had a tick against it. All that identity has gone.
The biggest mistake any business can make is to launch a brand, make it an attractive proposition to buy and then, as soon as it is established, look for any means possible to start cutting costs. Downgrading packaging, sourcing cheaper raw material, changing varieties etc....it is called ' getting too greedy, too quickly '
Whilst I am ranting on about pies....what about the following.
1) What happened to the mobile food-carts on the concourses, where you could get a drink and a hot-dog.
2) Tea and Coffee now comes in those awful vending type cups, where the powdered milk is in the bottom of the cup, under a foil seal. It has obviously been decided that it is too expensive putting out mini pots of milk so we can decide how much milk we want. Tough titty if the appalling and miniscule powder portion isn't enough and the drink is too strong for you.
Sorry folks....back to Balti Pies.
