Dandyman

In London village.
I'm Going To Be Driving To This Game, If Anyone Wants A Lift. Just Share The Costs 50:50. I Will Be Taking A Detour Via Market Harborough As I Need To Drop My Mother Off On The Way Up. She's Staying With Me For The Week Before That.

Because My Mother Will Be In The Car I'm Afraid I Won't Be Able To Offer The Lift To Women Or Children. Mother Is Quite Insistent On This.

Also, There Won't Be Eating Or Drinking In The Car Under Any Circumstances But Music Is Allowed (Within Reason). We Will Be Stopping Often For Loo Breaks Though So Plenty Of Chances To Grab A Bite To Eat.

One Last Word Of Warning. No Swearing Allowed.

Any Takers, Please PM. Serious Requests Only. All You Sarky ****s And Bullies Will Be Ignored.

Thank flip for a SENSIBLE post on this board.

If you are going to go by train you should definitely look into getting a rail card where you will get discount travel.

You get a third of with a young persons rail card (25 and under) or a network rail card where you get a third off but that’s for only the southern region (so would do for Luton and Southend)

The coach has sorted me out for trips to Preston on a Tuesday night and a couple of other trips like that in the past so I wouldn’t mock the service but if you are thinking of going to a game that isn’t that far away it will still be roughly the same price as the coach and if not cheaper and will be a lot quicker.
I think it takes them twice as long to get to London games as what the train does, also you have the choice of staying in London somewhere and getting a bite to eat or a drink rather then heading straight back like the coach does.

The two main reasons why I like the train is that I can get to said play earlier enough to get a meal rather than service station crap and also we do meet supporters from other teams and it is quite interesting talking to them about both our clubs.
The scantily clad girls are a nice added bonus!

You get a full refund if you travel by coach and the game is postponed. It doesn't happen that often but I remember the Norwich away game when the game was cancelled due to snow. It didn't cost us a penny in travel as we got a refund.

You can't exactly leave your bag etc on the train but you can on the coach.

Being able to leave your bag on the coach is hardly a unique and amazing selling point for using the coach. Unless you are taking all your world possesions to the game, carrying a bag around is hardly a hardship.

Indeed.

In fact, a well tailored MAN-BAG is surely de rigeur for the sophisticated traveller to an away game

Don't be silly now, Scotty. There is only one person taking the piss, and that is the young man who thinks he can justify DEFRAUDING the club by buying a child's ticket to save 3 poxy quid, on the grounds that he 'simply can't afford it', then admits on a concurrent thread that he happily spends up to £60 on an away day
