Twattish comment. Very, very high standard of football including one of the best 1% of goals we have scored in our 124 year history.

And Ive seen enough from you here to know that none of you would have thought we were amazing today if it had finished 2-1 so please take your moral lessons and shove them.

Then they'll come back next week and do exactly the same again.
Indeed. If ever you are called upon to eat your own words do make sure they were well prepared and most tasteful. There have been many times that I've forced to eat a putrid dinner.

Got back half hour ago from my first match of the season and first trip to Villa Park.

Expected the atmosphere to be much louder and more intimidating but it was very bland, even after they took the lead it wasn't up to much. Maybe their own average form is taking its toll or maybe it's just PL grounds these days not being all that in terms of atmosphere but loved Villa Park as a stadium to watch football in.

Thought our opening goal was a bit against the run of play but not massively so and a great finish from Adingra to pick up the loose ball and give that Argentinian prick no chance. Thought it really gave him some confidence after that so hopefully it will give him a much needed boost. Not convinced about him as a LWB though and kept being caught out of position.

Their first shout at a penalty looked like a good shout live but guessing VH got a toe on it as I haven't seen it back. Second one looked harsh to my eyes, Villa players didn't even seem to be appealing and if the ref needs to watch it that many times and take that long it shouldn't be overturned. On a side note, how Martinez was allowed to get within 5 feet of the ref when he was watching the VAR footage, shouting at the ref to give it and not walk away when the lino told him to back off but continue to try to influence the ref, and not receive a yellow card sums up Pawsons performance tonight. Weak and bullied by Villa shithousery.

Second half Villa came out the traps quick and I could see us conceding straight away which inevitably happened and we were lost until Fab made changes. I am and have been very critical of Fab but the changes definitely helped although I'd have taken Pedro off for his petulant performance today. Granted he had a hand in both goals but his level of effort was poor, looked like he was running in treacle and missed a golden opportunity. It's as if he's sulking when being played as a number 9 on his own as his attitude and effort did seem to improve once Rutter came on however he needs to give his all no matter what role he is being asked to play, we can't afford passengers.

Minteh very frustrating again, Mitoma was excellent which was good to see after some 'meh' games of late. So pleased for Lamptey to see him get a goal and generally some injury free game time. I do hope we give him another year or two as I think he has something to offer. Not every game but if he's happy being a squad player and not a guaranteed starter I think we'd have to pay good money to find much better.

All in all a good point, felt we edged it overall but I think both sides will be fairly satisfied with a point. Still not convinced with 3 at the back as especially in the first half we gave them so many crossing opportunities that a better side could have capitalised on.

Sorry for the essay and gold star if you made it through all my crap. Good night

Felt to me like Pedro held back, moved his leg back away, so was a bit surprised the pen was given. Proud of the performance regardless.

To answer the Martinez thing: weak and corrupt officiating.
He should have had a yellow regardless of the decision.

Trouble is we never actually see the animation he gets booked for :lolol:
Yes, this is very strange. He seemingly gets booked for nothing on a regular basis, yet the black-clad Spanish goblin is able to dance up and down the touchline and even obstruct players on the pitch with no punishment whatsoever. Tonight we also saw Martinez approach the referee to try to influence his pitchside penalty review, ordered to withdraw by the 4th official and then approached again to further influence the decision, all without getting carded.

Pawson spineless on the VAR and the handling of Martinez ..
a point on the road in the PL is always good, especially somewhere like Villa Park. Agree with comments above about penalties and thought we caused them problems, but we do simply concede too many poor goals .. both our goals were excellent and well taken, but both keepers only really had 1 decent save to make beyond the goals so a point feels about right.
Only question, what is going on with Pedro and the fans ? Not keen to stay on and clap at the end ..

He worked really hard and never stopped running. He even gave the fans a half hearted clap. Got through a massive amount of work and assisted two goals
Pedro was good or even great.
Adingra (despite the goal), Enciso and Gruda all very bad however.

He was booked, again.
Funnily enough I WAS feeling pretty pissed off at his seemingly ubiquitous arguing with the officials to show how much he cares. I was just wanting him to put as much effort into sorting out the issues in our team. Then he did with the substitutions!

Far, far too much over scrutiny of highly subjective fluffy stuff like perceived bad “body language”, “passion” etc on here: maybe just let their feet do the talking. We wouldn’t have got that point and big confidence boost without Joao Pedro so let him clap, not clap, clap like a seal like Andy Crosby, whatever he feels like doing. He’s clearly a very decent guy and a superb player. That’ll do.

It's all getting a bit Glenn Murray like isn't it?

Did he clap? He didn't clap! He hates us!

As long as Pedro doesn't end up at Palace...

I know if I’d just had my head split open at my place of work, deciding whether to, erm, wave or clap, who to, how long for etc etc, would actually be quite low on my list of priorities.

I was thinking the same. He would know he’s going to hold the coach up if he’s got to have some medical while everyone else is changed and ready to go. Amazing what people read into things.
