My copy of the Koran is from the Penguin Classics. Translated in the 50s by N J Dawood.

5.35 Reads: Our apostles brought them [Israelites] veritable proofs: yet it was not long before many among them committed prodigious evil in the land. Those that make war against God and his apostle and spread disorder in the land shall be put to death....

5.64 The Jews say "God's hand is chained....They spread evil in the land, but God does not love the evil-doers"

The jews spread evil in the land. Those that commit evil and make war and spread disorder shall be put to death.

I know it doesn't say it directly but it's a fairly obvious and logical extrapolation from what is regarded as an authorative translation.

And I'm not stating what Muslim fundamentalists do. I'm merely pointing out that the Koran calls Jews evil-doers and that evil-doers should be murdered. So much for all-merciful, eh?


edit - I'm not anti-muslim and really don't care who comes to this country as long as they add something to it either by paying taxes or through helping their local community. I will apologise because I keep forgetting that there is so much bad trabslation, misinterpretation and bad-mouthing of religion that it is logical for you to think that I am making excuses. I can't question this translation... its spot on.... however you are out of context. Elswhere in the Qu'ran (and you can find it if you wish to) it overwhelmingly states that you can fight only in self-defence... so the suras you refer to can only come into effect IF IT IS IN SELF-DEFENCE.
