Is that so? What is a striker supposed to do? score goals...?

Barnes - Takes his chances, very good goal record, always in the right position, model professional.

Murray - Offside more often than not, 3 red cards, misses sitters which cost us the points, bad attitude.

Barnes for me, no brainer

Quite agree with that. Plymouth are in a financial mess so a sensible offer might be accepted. I really think that at 20 he is a great prospect, leads the line well and has an eye for goal.

Absolutely. But, he has to play upfront with someone, in my opinion.

I think that Barnes is top quality, be a mistake not to try to get him, he's got pace and can score, sorry to say it but Murray can't do that all the time unlike Barnes. Sign him up! :D

Silly old bat
His goal record so far shows that he has talent, as well as the great finish today. hope he stays consistant if we do sign him as I like his determination.

I agree. He's shown that he knows where the net is and puts in the effort.

Agreed with your summing up of Barnes no problem.

Obviously you do not understand much about football in your summing up of Murray. He plays tight on the back of defenders so will get caught offside a lot of the time. He has had 2 red cards to the best of my knowledge this season. The more shots you have the more chance you have of scoring but also it means that you will miss more chances. As Cloughie said if you dont shoot you wont score.

Back to Plymouth , the asking price will be too much

I think when ever we go knocking at a club in the summer they will add a zero to the asking price. People think we are the chelsea of the lower leagues now i fear.

I hope we do not pay too much for under rated players.

I would like to see him here next season though. he has more promise than young Chris H.

Barnes is a funny one for me. Today he looked very good, other games he's been so-so, but he just seems to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time, and that's a precious asset in football.

I'd definitely say he's worth a punt for next season. Plymouth have rarely played him and he's never scored goals for them or anyone else in the League so realistically he should be priced fairly reasonably.

Murray is a class above. Doesnt really matter that he is suspended at this stage, no way Barnes is better, keep some perspective here.

I would love Barnes as he has great potential but looks to me tht he ahs a way to go and he seems less efective as a lone striker. This is soemthing Murray can do.

Would want both and right now if I had to choose I think I would go for Murray as we are now looking short-term to get out of this division.

Suspect Plymouth will want Barnes now though

At the moment, Barnes for me but I'm still angry about Murray again! Stop getting suspended! For a player who rarely tackles, how is it that he keeps getting booked and sending off? Yesterdays seemed like petulance.

I think we will sign Barnes. He is now League One value, not Championship and that will make a difference. Plus Plymouth simply do not rate him! If they needed goals that bad and they did rate him he wouldn't be with us.

Finally, he has a great attitude and although not a lone striker yet, looked excellent as part of a two.

Only year left of his current contract. If he wants to come here they'll let him go. Fee to be in the region of £150K + 25% sell-0n. I think he's worth a punt at that.

Hope that's right - when he came here he was a free transfer prospect :lolol:
