Whilst on the subject of Plymouth and strikers, both Barnes and MacLean out on loan and bagging (latter at Aberdeen) whilst they've been relegated..........strange one to me? We should def be looking to get Barnes and get rid of Murray.

Cant get my head around this one.

On one side Plymouth obviously didnt rate him as a championship goal scorer so let him out to us but then on the other hand they have been relegated and he has proved with us he can score in this division so perhaps they will think the same and want to keep him and try him out. Is he worth a fee like braintree says £150k + 25% sell on, I am not sure or would we do better to perservere with Dickinson.

What I would say is if we sign him make it to compliment Murray not instead of.

Surely at this stage of the season, Poyet wouldn't be giving him all the starts if he didn't feel there was something in it for the club?

(Although having said that, all our other strikers are on loan or suspended!)

Just seen his interview on Seagulls World.

Bless.

Certainly needs a bit more work dealing with the press, but I can forgive him when he is banging in the goals!

Quality finish yesterday, wonder how much Plymouth want for him.

we cant go round saying barnes is better, get rid of murray when weve only seen 6 or so games from him.everybody's still pissed off with murray because he got sent off and love barnes because he scored a wonder goal.we have to remember murray carrying the side at a point during the season and not lose perspective.yes barnes looks agreat prospect but lets not get too far ahead of ourselves by classing him above glenn.sign him up and judge them both next season

No way! not instead of Murray!

The two are so different in their attrbutes we would be foolish to get Barnes in to replace Murray,

Sign up Barnes on a 2 year deal and tell him he isn't garaunteed anything, he will have to fight for his place.

Shame we didn't buy Barnes and take Holroyd on loan, hindsight is a wonderful thing. The signing of Holroyd smacked a little of desperation to me at the time. Barnes can do no wrong at the moment, and worth a punt if the price is right for us, but we've seen impressive loan periods like that before at the Albion, then watched the player turn to crud once under contract. However I would be hopeful that's not the case here, his attitude has been top draw with us. Unlike Super Glenn this season.

I read the comment on Muzza that the off-sides and niggly battles stem from him being forced to play so tight on defenders. You know why that is, he's so flippin slow. If he had pace (with his level of ability) we'd never have landed him. His attitude/discipline has always been questionable, intelligence and maturity levels disappointing, and increasingly his demeanour and body language indicate an unhappy man. I'll be surprised if he is still around next season persoanlly.

Barnes has been an inspired choice and shows that we've got someone out there who can spot a prospect - bearing in mind he was previously sent back early by Torquay. He has that knack of being where the ball is - and being able to do something with it. I would be shocked if we didn't sign him this summer - probably for a small cash outlay plus a sell-on.

I think Murray is one of our best players.

I think Barnes has done well - particularly as he has operated as a lone striker when he clearly prefers playing off someone - but I have to say I would not expect us to be challenging next season if he is our main striker.

If we could get him free or cheapo then by all means he would be useful squad player.

But lets not go over the top here. He has scored a couple of lovely goals, one which hit him and another which the goalie should have saved. Looked bright as a button at times, but annonymous at others.

Brighton fans love a ruddy bandwagon almost as much as they love a witch hunt.

Why do we need to compare them? We've got them both, so it's not really a case of one or the other.
