i just want to add one thing to this - if dick had offered Dean a decent contract last year then he would have snapped it up last year - my opinion is dick is not that bothered if dean stays or goes and has not offered him a decent contract , he thinks he can get him on a bosman but he hasn't checked it out and can't !!
the fans need to read between the lines with dicks statemants "we made the player a good wage offer for our pay structure" this is our captain he is talking about - people need to read bas agents statement - dick offered bas £50.00 per week - not a lot really!!

You really do chat some shit

"If Dean is unwilling to accept his excellent new deal, the club will reluctantly be forced to make him available for transfer."

Bye bye Hammond, cheers for the good performances you put in.

Don't forget us when you're warming the bench for a Championship team.

I think we can be sure there isn't going to be a replacement for the departure of Hammond, unless Thomson was the replacement all along.....which I think 99% of Albion supporters knew was the case anyway.

Quite right too. If a players agent says:-

"Dean would like to play in the Championship with Brighton. We cannot, however, determine whether he is able to do that until the end of the season."

it is fairly obvious that he isn't going to sign when we aren't sure of making the play offs - let alone winning them.

I know some people on NSC like having a go at Dick Knight but do they really think 99% of all Chairman would react in any other way than the club have? If we don't go up he can bugger off scot free at the end of the season and we don't make any transfer income off him. Its not his fault, its not the clubs fault, this is the reality of post Bosman football contracts.

We have to sell him now!

Bloke aint worth this amount of fuss. I hope he gets the move he thinks he can get, and we can recoup something financially, but realistically I can see it all turning sour for the lad. He has neither the talent, consistency or commitment to make it at a higher level.

There is nowt wrong with ambition, but surely he recognises this IS his level (when in better form). Surely he knows he is unlikely to get the same forgiveness at another club for his regular poor spells. Forgiven, persevered with, and even made Captain, come on, where else in his career will he ever get that from a club?

Silly boy.

Lets hope someone comes in to soften the blow with a bonkers offer.

If only Steve Claridge was in management!!!

I back Dick Knight all the way, but that is one of his down falls. Andy Naylor is not helping the situation by constantly shit stiring.

I think there should be a fight between the two of them at Withdean. :catfight:

Andy Naylor isnt here to prop up the Chairman, he is there to try and put different perspective on it, should there be one.

You have to remember that Andy Naylor knows more from 'off the record' chats with people that are close to the club than he will ever divulge in print.

No, but then Naylor is trying to sell papers, not run a football club....and i expect he's doing a bloody good job - he might get criticised, but he's had a shedload of coverage since the end of McGhee's reign.

So, 'a true belief' it is then, and not at all 'in the know'.

Thank you. If nothing else, at least we know where you are coming from.

Stop acting between an out of date English Teacher and spoilt kid, why dont you give your clear views on Hammond and DK role.

Then we might have a reasonable debate.

Just far enough away from LDC
i people need to read bas agents statement - dick offered bas £50.00 per week - not a lot really!!

Bas's agent said 'he offered us enough for a couple of tank fulls of petrol a week'.

Assuming that was Net not Gross that would be £10k pay rise per year based on £110 a week after 40% tax (a tank full is c£55 in a 12 gallon fuel tank). Being generous to Bas here, If he was on c£2k per week - so £100k per annum that would be a 10% pay rise.

I suspect he was on less that £2k per week so that was a greater percentage increase.

Either way, 10% is very generous!
