The dull part of the south coast
I’m taking this a stage further and basing it on aspects in a season when we were unbelievable. Here goes :

1976/77 in Mullery’s first season in charge. Our home form was outstanding with a record of Won 19 Drawn 3 Lost 1 and we scored 63 goals.

Our FA Cup run in 1983 was exceptional. Shame about our League performances.

2010/11 when Gus Poyet coached the team into a possession based team with an end product. The rest of the division did not know how to cope. The number of times I left Withdean on Cloud 9 after yet another emphatic win still sticks in my mind - and soon to moving to the Amex as the big bonus.

December 2022 to May 2023 under RDZ. Roberto made us play a brand of football that was out of this world, and with the results to match. Those six months were my absolute favourite in watching the Albion. Astonishing!

Our first foray into European football. Some unforgettable times and for me the highlight was the trip to Amsterdam for our away leg against Ajax. Three days of rain, booze, adulation and the best get together of Albion fans ever. :ascarf:

To quote the words of dear old Russell Crowe.

Going back into your Albion memory banks what are the games that you left the ground feeling you've clearly had VFM?

I know its a broadchurch, but that's probably half of the fun of it, as we've all got individual takes on games.

I will kick off with 5, although I've probably got 25 off the top of my head.

76/77 when we hit 7 second half goals vs Walsall
81/82 came back from 3-1 down against European Champions Liverpool to draw 3-3 in the last 20 minutes.
90/91 Brian Wade's 4 goal haul on his debut against Newcastle
10/11 When Poyet's team destroyed promotion rivals Peterborough 3-0 away
22/23 the 4-1 Amex defeat of Chelsea when Potter came back.
When we thrashed Manchester City 4-1 in the rain at the goldstone.
when we won 2-1 at anfield in our 82/3 cup run
when we won 3-0 at Charlton ( Malcolm poskett)
when we won 4-0 at Charlton
when we beat Man City 3-2 at the Amex just after Covid.
When we scored 7 against Walsall.

as obviously great as our current squad are and our current position in the top division is incredible from where we have come from, todays football rarely excites me and at times frustrates me no end…but that is what people seem to want and my days watching the Albion are shorter rather than they were when I first started in 1974. I tend to find myself now watching lower league football on the telly instead of the premier offering. Watched bradford the other day in div 4 as was and it was dreadful hoof it stuff, but end to end brilliant stuff.
