A spokesman for Southern confirmed today that it plans to use‘refurbished’ trains with no toilets on board on the popular route as of December. The company denied that this would cause passengers any 'discomfort', suggesting that passengers should simply use the toilet before boarding the train.

So where are the toilets in Brighton Station then? Weren't they closed down years ago?

No they are adjacent to platform 8. you have to spend 20 penny's though.

The rolling stock was far, far worse before privatisation, with few trains other than the Inter Citys having loos!

Still a disgraceful decision.

Not from my experience of using trains pre-privatisation it wasn't. All the old slam door rolling stock I travelled on had toilets.

Round the left side of the station as you are walking through the barriers. The convenience will set you back 20p which is an inconvenience if you do not have one.

After that, I can't think of another toilet until you reach Churchill Square.

Thanks for the information, is that the platform for trains that go to Seaford?

What is a waste bin for it it's not for waste?............m'lord.

You make a valid point and surely it's just the same as disposing of a soiled nappy in a bin. Not entirely convinced that would hold up in court though!

Dear Southern,

I am simply going to piss in the cleanest carriage of any train without a toilet.

Love, Me.

Not the very old ones with separate compartments. The plain fact is that people will end up urinating in the corridors through lack of choice.

You raise an interesting point.

The seats are so cramped, and the aisles so wide that it means more people can be crammed onto the trains for just such an event.

They'll just have to do what they used to do on the terraces (so legend has it), they'll have to piss in each other's pockets.

They should at least provide free plastic bottles
