No I dont think Man Utd will be relegated

Most surprising relegation from the top division- Forest in 93 ?
Good shout with Mark Crossley, Stuart Pearce, Roy Keane, Nigel Clough and Steve Stone in that Nottingham Forest side. Brian Clough lost the plot in his final season of management. Selling Teddy Sheringham and not signing a replacement striker was their undoing with a lack of goals.

But the most talented side to ridiculously get relegated was West Ham in 2002/2003 with David James in goal, Michael Carrick, Trevor Sinclair and Joe Cole forming a tremendous midfield and Paolo Di Canio partnering Jermaine Defoe up front. Obscene! That's when money started to ruin the top flight. But then Glenn Roeder (RIP) couldn't manage a Hackney Marshes Sunday morning under-eights team in all honesty.

Completely agree
football has gone stale
It would breathe new life into the Domestic game
I sort of agree , but regardless of what you think of the so called “top 6” in this country, it would royally F up those clubs real supporters. The only reason Barcelona and Real Madrid were pushing for it was because they had both messed up their own finances and that was the only route they could see to getting extra cash.

The Super League would be the best thing to ever happen to football imho.

I'm struggling to think of one really big European club that I wouldn't want to f*** off to the Super League and stay there.
Whilst I agree, the problem is that the big clubs (as always) want the world in terms of domestic football and the super league at the same time.

West Ham when they had Glen Johnson, Joe Cole & the rest - can’t remember the year but think it was a record high points total for relegation.
If West Ham fitted into a Spursy type description better, would spurs still be the most suprsy team?

Ha, imagine selling players in a summer then not replacing them…

Forest top that in my opinion - their record since their promotion from the second tier in 1976/77

First Division
Champions: 1977–78
Runners-up: 1978–79

European Cup
Winners: 1978–79, 1979–80

European Super Cup
Winners: 1979
Runners-up: 1980

Intercontinental Cup[186]
Runners-up: 1980

FA Cup
Runners-up: 1990–91

Football League Cup
Winners: 1977–78, 1978–79, 1988–89, 1989–90
Runners-up: 1979–80, 1991–92

Arguably the most successful club to be relegated in recent times

Sadly I'm old enough to remember them being relegated in the early 70's. Wasn't such a shock back then.
In the current set up of football with its bias towards the top clubs it is incredible that a club the size of man u are doing so badly (and hilarious obviously).

Alex Ferguson is an absolute genius, not only for what he achieved while manager but also his ability to so successfully poison the well so noone could emulate his success. And they kept employing him. And the they named a stand after him.

The ineptitude at old Trafford is staggering. We really deserve a documentary about how badly run the club are and a seperately one of interviews with their glory hunting fans expressing dismay at the crock of shit they chose to hitch their wagon to.

Glorious. 😂😂

I almost feel sorry for them. 😂😂

A thread full of ‘surprise’ relegations surely can’t be complete without mentioning Leeds

Champions of Europe relegated in 1981/82 🤣

The shit or bust years - promoted 1989/90 - last ever winners of the old First Division 1991/92
Relegated - 2003/04 - club in decline/ total turmoil - gambled on the Premier League and Europe and failed.

But fast forward to 2019/20 - the greatest coach in the world took them back to the promised land - unfortunately sacked and relegated a few years later 🤣🤣
But thanks for giving us Ben White, we’ve spent the money wisely!

Mmmmm...... no.

We were moving away from bribery and intimidation and illegal payments running the top flight.

Forest went down because they sentimentally couldn't see past the alcoholic who had won them two European Cups, slurping scotch at nine in the morning, and doing absolutely f*** all to manage the squad..

And anyway, from time to time shit happens.

It would be awful if Palace or Man Utd made up the third relegation slot (18th), only for them to be allowed to stay up and Man City relegated in their place for their financial fiddles.
And Forest finish 4th only for some other dodgy shit to blow out from the edege of the bean counters rug.

No. But it would be absolutely hilarious if united got relegated for being crap and city got relegated for cheating in the same season.

Won't ever happen. But we can dream, at least.

They've won once in the last 6, losing the other 5. As for Ipswich, Soton and Leicester, it only takes one of them to outstrip Utd (plus the three teams above them, Wolves having picked up 7pts in the last 6, Everton 6pts and Palace, sadly, 11pts).

So it is very feasible that Utd could get relegated. They will come under more pressure than the others because of the expectation, their own, that of the media and of course their fans.

It certainly would be a sight to see. Leeds fans would be over the moon if it turned out they were ships that passed in the night so to speak.
