You appear surprised at what maths would suggest would be the expected outcome.

If you drill down through the numbers, it would seem that 36.9% of the electorate have got the government they want. This would mean that 62.1% have not. Actually only 36.9% of the 66.1% who voted got what they wanted, this equates to only 24.41% of the country wanting a conservative government. This means that over 75% of us didn't vote for them, but have got them.

Using the same method less than 20% voted Labour. That means that over 80% didn't vote for them, and presumably are either happy or don't care.

If the same result comes up for half a year and it's wrong, that's not statistical noise, it's a systematic error!

I've kept out of the political debate on here until now but this is the most pathetic thread I've ever seen. Ignoring the gloating that has been done by Tories in recent days, the fact is that scaremongering by the Tories won the election. They offered nothing positive, just vote Labour and get SNP, and for some reason 35% of the population who voted agreed with that (which due to the electoral system which has been forced on this country is enough to gain control of parliament).

This is ignoring the fact that Tories have significantly more funds to work with and the right wing press on their side, which makes for a really even contest. None of this is being a bad loser. Just fact.

Hmm. So, labour wanting to "weaponise the NHS" isn't scaremongering i suppose. And don't give me the usual left-wing bollocks about it will be gone in 5 years, as that is just the usual, left-wing, emotional, scare story crap we've ****ed off with.

Was thrown out of South Africa... well, our ship was asked to leave Cape Town.
Our skippers secretary was a black guy from East London. We pretty much wrecked every bar that refused to serve him. His finest moment was being photographed by an AP photographer on a whites only beach with his arms around a couple of blondes. Apparently that was the last straw.
Our engines packed in whilst exiting Cape Town harbour, and we limped around to Simonstown where we were docked for a few days, and continued our mayhem haha.

Not had much trouble with South Africans otherwise...partner in England was from Durban. I have more trouble with the Welsh for some reason.

Going back to the OP's point, did you see Jim Murphy's speech at the count in Paisley? -- given that he was the reluctant leader of Scottish Labour, who'd just been royally stuffed by the SNP, and lost his own seat by a large margin to a foul-mouthed 20 year old student, it seemed to me that his speech was the epitome of graciousness in defeat.

Of course they could have voted Labour, but didn't, and therefore the result is as is. Lets just keep it simple, more than 80% of the population of the UK didn't vote Labour, and 75% didn't vote Conservative. This is the system.

Over half of those who voted wanted them. Some of those who didn't vote for them wanted them, some of those who didn't vote at all may have wanted them, some of those who didn't vote may not of wanted them. The sum of those who didn't vote is irrelevant as they did vote so don't count their concern not anyone elses. Get over it.
