I'd like to qualify your claim about being 'for growth' is sensible. Arguably the worst aspect about GDP is it's an indiscriminate measure, and I really don't think we should be aiming for indiscriminate growth.
This is due to the climate crisis, the Sixth Mass Extinction and other environmental factors. What we should be looking at is growing certain parts of the economy (including the wealth of the poorer members) and shrinking others (carbon, material throughput, oligarchic wealth, etc).

Absolutely, there’s no benefit to most of the country if GDP goes up by 2% but it all accrues to one organisation or individual. There’s not even any certainty that the specific parts of the workforce that enabled the growth would be suitably rewarded for their efficiency.

If e.g. offshore Jim turned his petrochemical business around, he’d use the windfall to settle the ever increasing number of sports sponsorship legal battles he’s becoming embroiled in.

GDP is a piss poor measure of how a country is doing.

Appears that Starmer & Reeves have their Thatcher's Falklands moment quite early on.

Treasury earmarks billions in spending cuts

This is good, we pay out way to much in welfare benefits( before anyone jumps on me there are people that we should be supporting) , we need to get people back to work.

We also need to look at how we spend our money (with out going full Trump) we are being asked to pay more in tax, it's only right we should be looking at what it's spent on and if it's really needed.

Spot on.

Support those that really can't work more - and make those who can work work - or lose benefits.

And tax big Corps. like Amazon more.

Seems concerning.

It's such a shame that he didn't have enough time on that video clip to include the response...

(I don't know what the response WAS, I'm just saying!)

Not sure I could stomach your partisan and relentless posting of anything that casts this government in a bad light, but appreciate there are more important things than me and my stomach.
He's not been paying attention to the tory mantra of
"Come now, let's not talk this great country down".
The minute Labour get in he turns into a moaning minnie and wet. ???

My one concern is that Labour will push the problem onto businesses, but we can judge it all when we have the details
Ironically businesses will push the problem onto their workforce and customers.
That's capitalism.
We seem to accept it, and possibly even like it.
It is what it is.

If there were a magic tree from which we could shake out sunny uplands to help us prosper with luxury mixed metaphors.
it would of been done.
Innit.

I’m expecting that, given the problems with the economy during the first 6 months of the Labour government were blamed on the Conservatives- the problems with the economy during the second 6 months of the Labour government will be blamed on President Trump

The 2007/08 banking crisis, the Pandemic, Cnt Putin wages war and resulting energy crisis, Trump goes Nazi.
