Are conspiracy theories destroying democracy?

Having an open mind also means you shouldn't just assume someone who believes one conspiracy believes them all.

It is in my experience that conspiracy theroists believe in them all, and they will say; because that and that are true it means this and anything else must be true.

They never argue on a point by point basis and they move from one situation to another and to another, freely as it suits them, not the debate.

I've never heard a CT say one event isn't true.

Sorry but I just can't believe you've met all the conspiracy theorists in the world to make such judgement about them.
How many conspiracy theorist do you talk to a day away from NSC?
What was that thing you were mentioning on open-mindness?

See this proves the point when you say " I just can't believe you've met all the conspiracy theorists in the world" it is just a little patronising do you not think?

Tell me what you believe is true out of the following list?

Pearl Harbor, Kennedy, Moon Landings, Princess Diana, 911, Da Vinci code, 7/7, Boston, Sandy Hook, and more recently Lee Rigby?

i certainly havent, but the ones i have seem to fit this template, and that each theory feeds into supporting the others as evidence of a grand overarching conspiracy by the world powers/jewish bankers/illuminati/NWO/BBC. some of the details are different, like no planers, and some have differing cultral references. of course its difficult to literally believe in *all* theories as they often contradict and contrast, but as many theories are internally inconsistant that doesnt always matter either. i think a few are fringe even for tinfoil hatters, like flat earth theory.

Now you must agree that CT's also profit from conspiracy theories, like making films, documentaries and selling books for their own notoriety gain?

and

I would also add that lots of people heard many noises that echoed around the area and that booms and sounds of structural failure may have been interpreted as explosions.

Slow structural failure isn't a silent experience? A lift crashing into a basement, or heavy debris crashing down for example would make some noise would it not?

Could people genuinely believe they heard explosions? Yes they could.

Excellent points. These TV channels and websites don't fund themselves and people are notoriously terrible witnesses. I expect if you made 500 people at last night's game describe both goals in minute details the scorer, manner and minute would be roughly the same and everything else would be slightly different based on what people believed or were doing at the times. And this at an event they wanted to attend with no PTSD to deal with after.

I wasn't at any of the events to know 100% what the truth was!? I'm open to ideas which aren't just mainstream media reporting. At the moment, i'd rather not choose a side to believe and instead hear all possibilities. There's no harm in raising awareness.

Can I ask you a question? Do you believe Iraq had weapons of mass destruction?

No, Hans Blix stated this at the time in his reports and it proved to be the case. I always believed Hans Blix but Bush was mad and Blair was madder. Everyone knows this deception is fact. If this was intended to be covered up it failed, just like the 45 mins claim.

America had been planning to take Saddam out for ages, but 911 delayed that because they had to go to Afghanistan instead.

I think i might need to travel into the future to answer that one? Ask me again when more stories get uncovered.

2 years ago, if you'd said the queen has given a high proportion of medals to pedophiles who include MPs and charity workers, you'd been classified as a conspiracy theorists. 1 year ago, if you'd said that our government is working alongside terrorist organisations to take down enemy leaders. Again, you'd of been labelled a conspiracy theorist.
How do you know what next weeks news brings?

You could have just said "No".

So what was the motive in invading Iraq? why were they lying about the weapons? Do you think the lie was just a one off?

Sorry for having an opinion and anyway, why do I have to say "no". You've asked me what the future will be?

Yep conspiracy is an industry in it's own right., and last nights game was a great example of how people interpret things so very differently.

No need to be sorry.

symyjym pointed out that the CTers he had met believed in them all and you have just backed that up even though that assertion seemed to upset you.

You've lost me?

You asked me, when I find out all the possibilities to what caused events such as Dianas death and the moon landing, will I accept the current theories as true?
How the hell can anyone answer that? I don't know all the possibilities and I don't know if you do either!? But sure sounds like you think you do.

And yes what symyjym says is true, People like you for some reason believe that a conspiracy theorist is a type of human. They have different brains, lungs and heart. They mingle together in conspiracy coffee shops and they believe every single conspiracy theory they've ever heard. Plus they have an agenda to ruin the world!

No not at all.

I believe that for some reason you think that when an event happens there is some sort of conspiracy behind it whereas most normal people will just think shit is happening.

Can't something just happen without any sort of clandestine group being behind it?

Do we have to go back to when the Ottoman Empire was split in two by Britain and France.

Do we have to go into America suppling arms to Iraq to fight Iran and getting Saddam to do the dirty work for them.

I understand all this and the race for oil that started WW1, whoever controlled the oil fields could power the military machine to an advantage. All sides needed it and they all fought for it.

This does not make the 911 conspiracy true. The 911 CT came at a point when technology and broadcasting could be achieved by sitting in front of a computer and it was massively indulged in by many people for their own reasons of deception, for financial gain or otherwise.

If America wanted an excuse to go to war, they could have had the same result from flying one remote control plane into one tower without the need to bring it down.

America are not competent enough to have pulled it off the way CT claim. Even when getting Bin Laden, they crashed one of the two helicopters.

They could not have pulled off 911 even if they wanted to.

Do you know of the annunaki script in Iraq? I think it might actually be the oldest piece of script on earth? (could be wrong) It's on a stone.
