Serveral clubs?

That rules us out then.Move on.

Looks like we are trying to find loan strikers now as Gus is getting desperate. You can forget a big transfer fee being paid which people have been saying on here.

I'll bow to your greater knowledge/interest in Derby County matters ....

On the wider issue though .... I'm not in the camp that believes all the hype about the huge salaries of 'ordinary' pro footballers?

I know somebody who is very friendly with the McSheffery family, and when Gary was with Coventry, before his move to Birmingham, his wages were apparently not even 25% of what was regularly reported as 'fact' on the Cov City message boards and the like.

I always remember that whenever I see NSC telling us how much a player is on?
How do any of us know .... it's pure speculation.

:albion2:

To be honest, I'd generally agree - But from the publicly available accounts we do know that the average wage for a pro at Derby is around 10k a week, we also know (Because our Nigel has his father's say it as it is gene) that Varney is one of the top earners, it's not a great leap of faith to arrive at these numbers.

The facts are out there for 'average' salaries at clubs and divisions but as you say, the rest is speculation.

Why should we move on and why should that rule us out of a move for him? Ridiculous comment. There is going to be interest from other clubs in any player we are trying to sign, it's football, you have to compete with other clubs for the signatures of top players and he would be just that.

People need to wake up and get a reality check here. The window is closing in eight days time and you will find 90% of football clubs desperate to bolster there ranks.Since Poyet has left this far to late he faces to much competition and that' means we have liitle chance.
We won't get anyone decent now and this will end in tears for a fact.
You can't say he hasn't had much time because he has had months to get a striker.

Acted much quicker then this.Any big money signings should have been made in july when there's very little competition. Now the season has started other clubs will see weaknesses in there own squad or picked up injuries will move just as quick before the window closes.
The last thing this club needs is competition while still playing at Withdean.

Well you will look stupid when the window closes then.

Given the new premiership rules on 25 players, there will be a lot of movement in the transfer market going on from now until right up to the deadline. Players from the premiership moving down a division, championship players being replaced by premiership cast offs etc etc.

Why oh why oh why do you really think it is going to end up in tears. Where are the facts for this argument.

Fill up that half glass please

Poyet isn't a fan of the loan market and players tend not to give 100%.

Why bother giving premiership clubs kids much valuable experience? Because that's exactly what we will end up with KIDS.

So we were the only club looking for players in May?

The right players were available?

At a fee we could afford?

At wages we could afford?

And these quality players for whom no other club was showing any interest were ready and willing to come to Brighton?

But Gus/TB didn't bother to make any offers for these players?

Answers please...

Do you honestly believe Poyet and Bloom have waited until now to try and get a striker? Any quality striker that we try to sign in June or July, and I imagine there have been a few, will have wanted to wait to see if they could get a better offer. If they don't, then the next week will be our best chance. If we can't sign someone by next Tuesday, then we will have to try the loan window. Your negativity is unnecessary and I really don't understand what drives it to be honest. We have a fantastic chairman, a very good manager, the makings of a good team and have had a far from disastrous start to the season so why not lighten up rather than moaning all the time?

Every time you feel depressed or want to moan on here, why not look at a photo of Falmer instead and think of our fantastic new stadium that we will be playing at in a year's time?

Responding to NT having seen his post in the quote above. What happens before the transfer windo closes will make no difference to how daft I look. All I'm saying is that you're making outlandish claims that suggest that you know exactly what's going on in Gus' head. We may sign players, we may not.
