Interesting that Andy Naylor has now left the Argus, the Athletic clearly hasn't launched (yet) but he's continuing to report/comment about the Albion via Twitter. (he's now AndyNaylorBHAFC rather than [MENTION=14853]andy[/MENTION]naylorArgus which i guess heralds his intentions).
Presumably tweeting about their local beat (for free) is part of their model as well as plugs to sign up etc.

I thought that was the whole point? Take on reporters who already have a relationship with the club, instead of recruiting newbies that don't know the first thing about them. For The Athletic to do it properly – and to get the desired amount of content required to justify the fee*– I would imagine they would need to have a dedicated stream/feed of news from every club (certainly in the PL and Championship), which is what Andy's been used to doing for the past however many years anyway.
If not, you'd just end up with the same old syndicated stuff you get from any old football website. Probably hence why it's free and TA is trying to charge for it
