Call me stupid, but why would people NOT still call it the Amex (or why 'no more Amex' or 'Amex RIP' as I've seen), when the new official name still has the 'Amex' bit in it?

I just hope no nright young smarty-pants has been paid good money for coming up with this - even more, I hope no posh agency or consultancy firm is now able to pay its executives enormous bonuses on the strength of this piece of work.

I get the stadium name change - much cleaner and better for our main sponsor.

However, I liked 'Albion In The Community', it seems more of a natural, grass roots partnership and having just 'Albion' makes it Sussex-wide and not just the city. To me, 'Brighton and Hove Albion Foundation' seems more urban, corporate and top-down.

I think we should also get rid of the Hove part of the clubs name.
We don’t play there anymore.
I doubt many of us use the name when talking about our club.
It would make sense to tidy it up……what do you think?
Needs a POLE!

While largely it makes no difference to anything, I think it's a shame that the 'community' part has been removed. Although only really paying lip service it was a nice touch that reminded us of the community's part in making it all come about.

Perhaps the club, or possibly Amex, don’t like the Amex abbreviation. By calling it American Express Stadium they get their full name out there. Just a thought, we know they are very particular about their branding. If we see the club drop the term Amex, that would point to this.
Everyone, including the media, will verbally call it the Amex regardless. It’s possible that dropping ‘community’ is to encourage TV companies & the press to use the entire name in writing, as it’s a bit long with the correct title. I think I’ve seen it shortened incorrectly to ‘The Amex Stadium’ on TV sometimes in the same way that the shoddier operators don’t put “& Hove Albion” on the table.

This thread might underline why this is happening I suppose, given how many people don’t seem to have a clue what the actual name of the ground is & think it’s officially ‘the Amex Stadium’. Personally, not keen on dropping ‘community’ as it was a recognition of the decade the community spent winning the right to have a stadium at all.

If already said , good , if not - perhaps to do with the Yanky pre-season . The team from the AMERICAN EXPRESS STADIUM .

WE havn`t forget the Community , never have never will .

No idea. It’s as if a significant number of people are unable to read the press release.

Just continue using the existing names in all correspondence, on here and especially at the Fans Forum.

It will drive them nuts.

Eh?

Albion's own official website refers to it as "The Amex Stadium":-

The community of Brighton and Hove will be around long after American Express have upped and left our city. Short sighted move.
Meanwhile someone, a true fan, has piled £300,000,000+ into our club, I think I'll leave the judgements to them.
