Interesting Where on earth does the money comne from that with no huge income coming into mens side to pay for it.
Ownership model, sponsors, FA grants (which covered certain backroom jobs) I guess…….a mixture. Lewes are I think finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with the W championship levels of spending (hence their league position) as the ‘big’ clubs throw more money at it - budgets have increased dramatically in some cases over recent seasons.

This.

We're seemingly moving, quite rapidly, to a situation where a club that doesn't have a high profile/high revenue men's team (and associated club name and history) is going to find it very, very difficult indeed to compete. It's shame, IMO, because Lewes's story is probably more 'authentic' than a lot of the WSL clubs, but money will always be the driving force.

Here
Any further details on reason why Melissa Phillips was sacked other than performance? There has to be more to it because she didn't seem to be doing too badly given the playing resources available to her???

Good article on the BBC site said we are a data driven football club and are stats were awful in so many areas. As seen with the men and Graham Potter, Bloom and Barber can live with bad results if the data shows we're doing well, if results and data are bad then you're in trouble

With the ladies drawing Man Ure after beating Wolves, I can't help thinking that I'm the unlikely event that we were to win on the 28th then the FA Cup gods will seek to copy the tie.

More International callups - Thorisdóttir, Bergsvand, and Terland have been called up by Norway for their upcoming Nations Leagues games against Croatia

Just hard to understand How can we not even do the basics and yet have 6 potential international players

On route back from the game. The referee had an absolute shocker today. Liverpool ladies are the first WSL club I've seen fake injury on every collision. Zigiotti gesturing to the crowd after yet another player rolling around when Albion were on the attack. The ref stopped play every single time.
We were far from great, perhaps the wrong time in the season to change the style of play, but the ref was truly dreadful.
The scouse a very dirty side.

I watched most the second half on sky and I would concur that the ref was indeed awful. Probably had a Liverpool shirt under the ref outfit.

Dave, this is you posting on the BBC Sport website, isn't it?

"Your FA player stream must be bad. I was at the game, ref diabolical. On many occasions scouse fained injury, she stopped play, not even making a player go off field near the end?! Been saying how refreshing it is not to see ladies rolling around cheating like in men's football. Sad to see Liverpool women be the first club to be as behave like the men. Role models? 🙁 Both teams were very poor."

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
We didn't really start playing until the last 20 minutes. They need to try and play like they did in that period from the off.

Yep hands up, that is me. Before I get a hiding for the quote, I've found it to generally be true. You don't see the likes of Ferandez, Saha etc. It's nice to not see it tbh, I could've strangled Ferandez at Wembley last year.
The ladies just get up and get on with it, Liverpool women is the first time I've seen such drama. Their centre half even waving an imaginary yellow card at the ref at one point. Would just be nice not to see these theatrics coming into the ladies game.
We don't see it with players at the Albion, (perhaps Facundo Buonanotte has his moments, but can ignore that - he has come good 🙂).
Have you seen many of our games? Thoughts?

I’ve been to watch the ladies a few times recently and I find it quite an interesting watch for various reasons, Baggaley is a solid keeper, the centre backs seem solid enough if not spectacular, the centre mids, Zigiotti, Pinto and Losada are excellent technical players, Simmonds, Robinson and Bremer are good attackers and Terland is a terrific goal scorer. The conundrum seems to be creating a system that suits the players and getting them to gel, when I’ve watched we seem very predictable, it’s a pass into the middle, a pass to the full back or advancing centre back and then a long ball down the flank, either on the turf or over the top. That seems to be it, there’s far more talent in the team than route one towards the corner flag.

Yes its still only one side, so the Bristol City game on the 3rd March will definitely be a key game in deciding who will be involved in the relegation battle.

I thought that we played ok today - our passing has improved from before Phillips left in that we are actually passing to our own players more, and we were pressing and pushing up too rather than sitting deep. Liverpool seemed to hit the deck at the slightest opportunity, and ref gave them a lot of leeway (to say the least). A bit more composure and luck in the final third and we would have got more from the game. Baggaley obviously at fault to gift them the goal, but mistakes happen and shes made some big saves for us this season to keep us in games/keep the scoreline down.

Fingers crossed we can come back after the international break and get the win we desperately need at Bristol on the 3rd March.
