'Albion reject Archer £60,000'

Argus headline. Wickes (Archers company) are putting £500,000 into the league to have sponsership boards and season tickets etc. with every league club.

Each team which accepts this will recieve £60,000 but the Albion have rejected for obvious reasons.

Bearing in mind what Archer did, it is an absolute scandal that the Football League is accepting this money. The man is an enemy of football. It's amazing how easily some people seem to want to forget that.

I know we need the money but I also agree that refusing to accept the money is good.

We all worked bloody hard to get rid of him and to let him have a sly way of having his face back in the picture would be awful.

Following this action by the club the chances of me donating have risen.

I think verybody to do with the Albion is fully aware of this company and would have nothing to do with them, advertising or no advertising. I honestly believe we should have taken the money. I know it's all about integrity but then again we have had the integrity to stay out of administration while the likes of Leicester and Ipswich have spent big and thn wiped their debts off at 12p in the pount and look where that has got us.

Whilst I applaud the board for turning it down (perhaps we should write to ALL clubs asking them to refuse it), I think I'd have been tempted to take the money and just make sure the board always had something obscuring it. Do these people actually check that their advertising is visible at every game?
