Lord Bracknell
On fire
Can someone explain the logic of allowing Andriy Shevchenko to live and work in the UK and not allowing Alhassan Bangura to do the same thing?
Most of those are from former French colonies and they come into Europe via France.Could he not use the route that many Aftricans do to enter England by going to another country within the EU first if he is so concerned about his life.

Genuine asylum seekers should be made to feel welcome. He is a young man in a decent profession, paying tax as he should do. I would far rather have someone like this in our country than the hoardes of terminal jobless who are not interested in contributing to society.
Why he has no legal right to be here. Would you say the same if he drove a bus for a living instead of playing football.
Yep about right.....
You just know that they make no real effort in trying to catch the real illigal scroungers, but yeah, they show their steely determination in trying to deport a young successful professional, who is a positive contributor.

I would.
If this case can bring to the attention of famously-conservative football fans the fact that our policy on asylum seekers is an iniquitous and vicious exercise in man's inhumanity to man, then I, for one, am fully in favour of this campaign.
We do not know that to be the case. We only know about him because of his high profile. He is subjected to the same laws as all others illegal immigrants. If he was a bus driver or barman we would not have heard about it and everybody would have said ' he is an illegal immigrant send him back.'

I can't help thinking all these Watford fans would be far less likely to rally around a local 'non footballer' resident in similar circumstances.
Humpf - tis not like I'm getting any petitions or anything....probably because I'm playing by the (fairly unfair) rules....
I was just about to use you as an example, tedebear, but was a little unsure. Commonwealth country and coming here = illegal immigrant now
Any European country in the EU and they have the right to come in without any work permits or permissions.
