They still do Laughing Brew Lowenbrau on tap in The Brewers towards the top of the High Street in Lewes....

A few of those will put a Twinkle in your eye :)

That's remarkable! Thanks for that hon - looks like I'll be getting reaquainted with an old friend after all.

Sadly (and ricdiculously), they have given you correct information. Unless it's gone up of course...

For me it's:

Bingo Bango

Good choice and very cheap round here because of the big Portugeuse community. A couple of years ago, (along with the Sagres) I could buy it for 69p a bottle. It's still available for under a quid.

I'm an Ale drinker really, but love Spanish / Portugeuse lagers.

Can I add

.. and this little number from Barcelona I think. Possibly my favourite lager.

Yes you can and I agree, both about the ale and the Portuguese/Spanish stuff.

Whilst I think the Bock rules over Sagres, if you can pick up Sagres' dark beer, it's lovely.

I did have a few of those Asahi recently of an evening, and it were dead good. No hangover either, always a bonus.

I'll have to hunt it down, although it won't be hard round here. I've had the Dark Bock. There is a off licence by Stockwell Station that sells Bock very cheaply if ever you are in the area.

Out of interest, the beers I had in Costa Rica were up there with the Spanish ones, but more dark ones available as well.

I think the Estrella is nicer that both Sagres and Bock, personally. I love an Estrella. You can get a pint of it in the West End if you know where to go.

Personal opinion of course, but I thought the dark Sagres better than the Bock so it's worth tracking down.

Totally agree about Estrella. When I was staying in Barcelona, we found a little supermarket that was selling ridiculously cold coke-sized cans of it for about 25p a pop. Needless to say, our apartment fridge was quite, quite full of it!

The Stella/Grolsh drinkers on here really should get their lips round a proper Portugeuse or Spanish number. You'll never go back.

I've been lucky enough to have them round here first and tried them in Spain later. Sagres is as easy to buy as Fosters. Estrella a bit more difficult, but a shop in the High Street usually has it but it sells out fast. Super Bock also very very easy.

There is another very very common Spanish lager sold in Spain that I've never seen over here. A red and white design only sold in cans, it's everywhere and very cheap. I guess it's their Fosters, but tastes 100% better.
