You're being serious, aren't you?!

I can understand why you wouldn't rate Brezovan, although by and large he has been very good for us, he still looks prone to chucking one in every few months. It's just a question as to whether his usual total dominance of the six yard box saves more goals than his inevitable occasional clanger.

Murray, however, when he gets his mind on the game, is capable of being a class above most strikers in this league.

And Navarro- I don't see how you can possibly judge, as most people outside Brighton, Tranmere or Milton Keynes will have barely heard of him. He was totally anonymous for the first couple of months of last season, but turned it around, and by the end we were really noticing it if he wasn't playing. One of the quietly effective types, I think it's fair to say.

We will finish 9th. Our squad is nowhere near good enough for a serious promotion challenge.

Don't forget people were predicting much the same this time last year that we would get in the play offs at least and within 3 months were in the relegation zone after 3 wins in 17 matches. Our squad is average. There are no worldbeaters there. Certainly we should not be near the bottom but mid table is about the limit next season. The promotion push will be the first season at Falmer.

What if we get Lua Lua and a quality striker in this week?

Lua Lua is not all that. We need a striker as we have no one capable of getting 15 goals or more. Any decent striker will not be plying his trade in the 3rd division however.

You'd think that, but look at the squad Stockport had when they first came to this league. They were doing outstanding considering the financial troubles they had. They would of finished in the top 8 i think if they didn't get that 10 point deduction half way through the season.

1) Our squad is easily good enough for a top 6 finish. Still think we could do with a new goalkeeper, striker and Lua Lua..

2) More importantly we have a potentially world class manager who will prove himself this year..

You obviously didnt watch our midfield yesterday. That is the best midfield combination that we have had for a few seasons and with Kishishevs undoubted class and the ability to play simple balls accurately plus the heart and engine of Sparrow they will provide the front men. whoever they may be, with goalscoring opportunities. I think that we are easily capable of reaching the play offs and with that elusive 25 goals a season striker automatic. Mind you a few f..k ups and we could just as easily lose matches and be in trouble but I am sure that Poyet is going along the right road and knows exactly what he wants and how we will play. Any body who doesnt conform will be shipped out.

Sounds just about right.

If we dont sign anyone, i am happy that what we have got can push for the play-offs, the way we have been keeping posession has been superb and given our form from the second half of last season i think it is looking very bright.

If Gus gets in the remaining players he wants i think we can go all the way.

Southampton and Huddersfield may have better individuals but we are playing superbly as a unit. I know which one i would rather have.

Really do think a lack of goals is going to be the critical point of this season. 451 is great at keeping things tight but relies heavily on goals from midfield. Bennett will get more than his fair share but not convinced about the scoring prowess of the rest of the team

This season should really define what Murray is all about.

For the first time he appears to be fit, to have had a reasonable pre-season and to be more or less settled. There were times last season when he looked superb under Poyet's direction. If he can't do it now, he never will.

I'm not necessarily sure he's a 25 goal man- although Ricky Lambert never was either until a couple of seasona back- but if things fall into place he can destroy teams at this level (like he did to Southampton at St Mary's last time).

Still want another striker IMHO, and a goalkeeper as Poke sounds none too convincing from the reports I've heard so far.

I honestly think if we gel we are capable of doing quite well. It's quite a close division after all, we just need that run of the green! The team is good enough to go up but it's by no means a dead cert. If players like Brez, Navarro and Murray all find form and give us a real backbone we could do brilliantly, if they don't... well, then I think 9th sounds about right!

Totally, totally agree. I think he is a class act and am very excited about this season. I hope the pressure of not having to be a 25 goal a year man will work in his favour. I think the midfield will bang them in big time and Murray will be unleashed! Lower league Berbs!

If he is still shit or can't cut it for one reason or another it's time to let him go.

To be fair mate, there's no doubting that Brezovan is a decent shot stopper, but his communication, catching and kicking is awful. Of course he is always prone to a mistake, he may have cut some of that out but I have seen a few mistakes from him in a Brighton shirt already. I don't think we would have done anywhere near as well as we did last season with him in goal, he just doesn't inspire any confidence in his defenders.

Greer is a good signing for you lot, type of defender teams need at the back at this level to be a success. Great captain but you will need a quality player alongside him.

Is Murray a 25 goal a season man? It's fair to say every team looking for promotion needs one of them, he might turn decent ala Billy Paynter but I'm just not sure why some Brighton fans think your nailed on for a play off place.

Navarro is nothing special, compare him to other midfielders of the main teams in this league and it's fairly laughable that he is in your side when you are going for promotion really.

Sorry, so we say Navarro is a very important player at this level and MK Dons fans, where he played before, were disappointed to see him go yet you feel you are qualified to override that having seen him twice a season when he plays Swindon. Maybe Gus should hire you as first team coach and drop Navarro straight away.

Personally, I don't see you doing that well this season having lost Greer, Paynter and various loan players but I am not going to go on a Swindon forum and write off one of your players who I clearly know nothing about.

As for the others, Brezovan is definitely good enough for this level and he may make the odd error but his distribution is fantastic, either you didn't watch when he was at Swindon or he has improved a lot, and he definitely inspired confidence in our defence last year as far as I could see.

Nobody is saying we are nailed on for a play off place but in the second half of last season our points tally would have put us 5th and we have improved the squad since then which is a pretty clear sign that we should challenge. We will see next weekend how good we both are when we play you without three of our first choice team.
