A message to the plastics

The only thing I noticed yesterday was a really young lad wearing a Liverpool shirt, that's about it..

I understand, but if you had a Brighton shirt would you not wear that instead?

Possibly, although I am starting to wear colours less and I know a lot of people don't, particularly away - whereas I don't see wearing a foreign football shirt/tracksuit top as "wearing colours" really.

Years ago a group of about 15 to 20 odd fans gathered in the North Stand,every game they were there,always in the same place,they were the biggest set of plastics i'd ever come across-they would always,and i hasten to add, shamelessly,and at the top of their collective voices sang........

I remember that lot too. I wouldn't call them plastic as they seemed to be the noisiest bunch in the North Stand.

Bear in mind Brighton has always been a club that's attracted support from all over Sussex and when there's a bit of local banter within that, fair enough. It's not the same thing as wearing a Man U or Chelsea shirt.

What does it say-really...? to me it says 1 of 3 things
1.i am and will always be a chelsea fan but i want to let people know this as well as seeing Brighton's new ground.

2. i am a Chelsea fan but might just follow Brighton as i would have years ago but the timing was wrong and the cost to see Chelsea is to be frank ridiculous.

3.i'm a prat.

I can honestly say that apart from "Fans United" i do not remember seeing any other shirts at The Goldstone.

Where were they in the ground?

We had several visitors from Germany (St Pauli, I'd guess). And I remember seeing a couple of fans in Villa shirts, before FU. They were showing support for our plight. Not gloryhunting, funnily enough.

just a thought, but seeing as EVERY club affiliated with the county fa got tickets then maybe, just maybe those wearing other clubs shirts weren't actually brighton fans?

Christ yesterday was more like an open day with a small match involved,you won't see any of these shirts at first team matches so get over it.If we do get some then most will give them grief

Because as recently as the Daggers [ i think could be wrong though ]game there was a clown in his spurs jacket in the stand behind the goal
home end i hasten to add No one said anything to him

Actually that's a valid point. Technically it wasn't a 'Brighton' game yesterday, we just happened to reach the final.

Sure we welcome them 100% just don't wear plastic manc or lpool shirts in the home end. Any other clothing is surely fine even a bloody tutu would be more appropriate

a spot of devil's advocacy here if I may, what if a Peterborough fan wanted to go and watch CMS for old time's sake and wore a Posh shirt? Or is the anger more directed at typical "plastics" teams (i.e. the big 4, 5 or 6 or whatever it is nowadays)?
Isay if you get the kids in and they enjoy it then they just might swap thier EPL team shirt for an Albion one - that's what happended to me as a nipper, I remember having a Chelsea shirt with one of those big square sewn on badge patches and idolising Peter Osgood until my old man took me see the Albion who from that point on irrevocably turned my head.... or am I just a stary eyed dreamer?

I rather enjoyed a JCL in the WSU talking to his mate that Brighton will really struggle in the championship playing this style of football with these players.

I kindly pointed out it was our reserve team (which seemed to surprise him) and we won League one playing passing football
