A message to the plastics

I think we have to accept that a decent proportion of the JCLs will already 'support' a Premiership team. In some cases it may well be a slow transition from 'supporting' Man Utd/Chelsea/whoever to Brighton; but these people have committed to a season ticket, and I find it hard to believe that after 23 league home games most of them won't have dropped their Premiership team.

In short; I wouldn't worry about it, it's a short-term phenomenon.

This. Hopefully in a few years time, we'll be seeing kids wearing BHA shirts in the parks with the kiddie in the Man Utd shirt out numbered getting the piss ripped out of him by his mates!! The new training complex should add to this vision, it'll give the kids something to aim for/aspire to!

I reckon at the SCC Final yesterday there would have been a lot of "football" fans (but non Albion fans) just visiting to see what all the fuss is all about with regard to the new stadium. So with this in mind, I would expect a few neutrals to wear their own team's shirt, despite me not agreeing with it. Can see this happening at Spurs game too, sadly (but not many).

That said - and I know this has been discussed in a thread elsewhere - if any home fans turn up to the Amex in another club's shirt from 06 August 2011 onwards, well, they deserve all of the abuse they will undoubtedly get. And fellow parents take note, don't even think about dressing your kids in non-Albion clobber, for you will be to blame!

this!

I got a grilling from a steward at Withdean years ago for wearing "another team's colours", which was apparently against the rules and was even asked to cover it up. It was a Galway hurling jersey.

A Stenhousemuir shirt was often seen in the Northstand.

I can honestly say that apart from "Fans United" i do not remember seeing any other shirts at The Goldstone.

Where were they in the ground?

To turn up at your local club wearing a Liverpool or any shirt is just unacceptable. You just don't do it.
Its the clubs responsibility here to let supporters know that the wearing of other clubs shirts is not acceptable.

Not only is it promoting poison to the younger generation, but what would look like if we are on TV and we have people in the crowd in Liverpool and Spurs tops on? Very embarrassing.

Would my Fiorentina shirt be ok?

No. No other clubs shirts should be allowed. What message are you trying to send across?
Are you supporting Fiorentina or Brighton?

Its up to people what they do, but I just don't think its right.

Where do you draw the line though? Are rugby shirts ok?

Personally I tend to wear foreign football shirts as a random item of clothing rather than in support of the club. If you see someone wearing a Fiorentina shirt, your thought would be "that person must have been on holiday there", or "as well as Brighton, that person must like Italian football". It doesn't question their commitment to Brighton in any way.

I suggest an amnesty-wear what football shirt you like to Falmer-just hand them over after the game for incineration.oh and visit the club shop on the way out.

I understand, but if you had a Brighton shirt would you not wear that instead?

I Agree totally,
Couldn't help noticing the guy stood a couple of rows away from me in north,
Chelsea jacket,
Chelsea Bag,
He looked lost
why would you do that?
