The number one place to shop for the casual era was Stuarts in Shepherds Bush. Lads would travel from all over to get the latest clobber on offer, it really was the place to shop.

Very true, there were coach trips from Middlesbrough specifically to visit this shop.

I haven't seen mention of Gabicchi which were one of the big label items you had to have back then. Yeah people really did travel to make it to Stuarts. He sold up a few years back & it is now run by Indians but still very of the moment fashion wise. I think Stuart himself still has a couple of stalls in Shepherds Bush market selling cheap suits!

Stuart's also gets a mention in Jay Allens book "Casuals" which is a good read on the football violence of the time even though he is from Aberdeen.

I'm a very proud owner of a Gabicci Gloverall duffel coat that I bought in Peggs and Son a few years back. The lining on the inside has to be seen to be believed. It's a thing of beauty, it really is and I'm very pleased that Gabicci are still around and looking good. A couple of years ago you could also buy some retro Farah polo shirts that looked very lovely too.

Enjoyed the Sergio Tacchini revival a couple of years back (although it has gone a bit Sports Direct now) and still a fan of the Fila knitwear you can find rather than the sportswear.

Gabicci is consistently coming up with some lovely pieces and Farah enjoying a resurgence over the last 12 months or so with its vintage lines.

Woodies Emporium was always a place to shop at in London.

Lacoste will always be a timeless classic that is accepted. Unfortunately the price drop of Henri Lloyd has made it less popular although jackets can still be the neatest. The ICF, Soul Crew, Zulu's and 657 Crew's books all have plenty of eighties pics that have stood the test of time.
