7 I think. (I voted 5, before realising my mistake).

BIDMAS (Brackets, Indices, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtracation)

6 - 1 x 0 + 2 / 2
First thing to do is division (2/2=1)
6 - 1 x 0 + 1
Next Multiplication (1x0=0)
6 - 0 + 1 = 7

I think..

I believe 7 is the answer. I've not looked, it's just the way I understand the correct order of operations from school days from way back when.

My daughter who is studying maths at Uni reckons it is 7 as once the multiplication and division is done you do it in order if there are no brackets.

The problem is that you do the division first 2/2 = 1
Then the multiplication -1 x 0 = 0 (so remove from the equation - this is the bit i got wrong as I thought the minus would carry over to the 2/2 but it was cancelled out)
Then add 6 + 1 = 7

It's clearer if you just add the brackets implied by bodmas: 6 - (1 x 0) + (2 / 2)

Seems to me you can work this as many ways as you like and come up with lots of different answers but how many times do you read a sentence from the end, then the middle, then the start?

I agree with this, surely minus 0 isn't a number, you can't have minus zero of something,
therefore 6 - 0 + 1 =
6 - + 1= 5

Although at the point of 6 - 0 + 1 we are allowed to rearrange the numbers in any way we like, so 6 + 1 - 0, or (+) 1 - 0 + 6. So actually I'm changing to 7!
