Ton up Trott 225-7.

This is the vital time now - just because he's got a ton the pressure's eased slightly. However, if we get bowled out for under 250 Pakistan are still favourites to win. 275 should be the next target.

Good knock by Trott - I wasn't wholly convinced by him before the last test but I am now. He looks the business - it's a pity about the rest of the top six

Hopefully Trott will inspire the other batsmen to better things in the 2nd innings. I have to say the guy has exceeded my expectations. The other bonus is he's batted loads with Bell at Warwickshire so no problems there either.

Do try and keep up.... that was hours ago! :nono:

Not long been in from work so my comment is as in booted out of the team rather than his dismissal earlier.

No-one else would be allowed to have such a dreadful trot without being told to back to his County and get some 4 day games under his belt.......

Oh........................

Perhaps this has been raised already (I've not been able to listen to TMS or watch the game on TV) but how many people have ever made their maiden first class hundred in a Test match? ???

I've not known a day of test cricket like this. At 11.30 when we were 47-5 the bookies had the expected over-under score at 165. It's now 380.

Pakistan were odds-on to win at one point. Now they're 9-1 and it's England who are 5-4.

Amazing stuff!

Statwatch: These 2 are 34 runs away from England's best ever 8th wicket partnership. Incredible - these records tend to be ancient and all bar the 6th wicket record has stood since 1973 or earlier.

I think Jack Russell did it but can't recall too many other people - but I'm sure there must be others

Just checked it. Jack Russell did score his maiden century in first class cricket in a test match. The only other Englishman to do this was Sussex man Billy Griffith - coincidentally another wicket-keeper.

Here's a quiz question: apart from maiden centuries and wicket keeping, what else do those two players have in common?

Their "name" wasn't there real name? Robert Charles Russell is Jack's real name.
Either that or they both insisted on wearing shit tattered hats?

A record long innings or longest innings to score a century? Or Billy always travelled with a tin of beans and a can opener?
