My thoughts exactly, have been all along and Chavs fas Andy Jacobs on TS has consistently said the same. After a long list of transfer faux pas, Boehly/Winstanley were never going to let a young crown jewel leave.

We'll be buying a CB from elsewhere.

Unfortunately Pochettino has allegedly stated that he wishes Colwill to be in his squad next season.
I'm sure certain assurances would have been given to Pochettino when he signed his Chelsea contract.
I would guess Colwill would only be sold with the new manager's blessing.

Once Chelsea sell Mount to Man Utd, Kovacic to Man City and Loftus-Cheek to AC Milan, plus they don't take up an option to sign Joao Felix then I would imagine their FFP pressures will be substantially eased (plus there will be additional player sales).

Kovacic fee looks to be cheaper than what they paid so not a huge amount of net gain on the books, and Mount in last year of contract so again going to be a modest fee.

Surely Poch isn't going to sanction a move until he's had a good look at his squad. He'll know he has to reduce wages and bring money in but Colwill will be one of their less expensive assets in terms of wages so from their point of view makes sense to wait. They've got until the 11pm on 1st Sept to make a decison.

Slim chance of this coming off but it was right to try all the same I think, making a respectable bid for the player who we’d undoubtedly be delighted to sign. It’s a statement of intent and shows to RdZ the club will back him. It’s not our fault Chelsea won’t sell. I wouldn't have thought so. I'd guess that a deal will be reached at a significantly lower figure. It's just Chelsea setting their stall out early saying that yes there will be sales but they're not going to be bargain sales, IMO.

I get the impression that happened with Cucurella , but even then they never sold to us.

I think it is best to ask how this bid has become public knowledge (if it is true at all). Either from Brighton, Chelsea or the player's agent.

We would only go public if we were trying to unsettle the lad which might work in a big versus little club scenario but obviously this is not the case. Anyway presumably we already know Levi likes the idea so what is the point?

The agent might want to go public in order to drum up higher bids, but the transfer window has barely opened and there is no rush since the bid has apparently been rejected. So again I don't see the point in agent shit stirring at this point.

Which leaves Chelsea and maybe they have released this information in order to make a statement about how he is definitely not for sale this summer? That is what I reckon has happened.

It makes sense for Brighton to test the water with a low opening bid early in the transfer window and either get into a negotiation or get a firm no. Now we know we need to move on to target number two.

I'd be over the moon to sign Levi but I'm sure I will soon be happy with whomever we do sign instead.

There is a rush for Chelsea to get ££££ in before the end of June so they don't fall foul of FFP. Hence why the Mount transfer is so pressing. How much they need to raise to cover the FFP, I've no idea, and wonder whether we can extricate some dullard from pornhub to find out.

Apparently (according to Fabrizio that is) Chelsea want 80m for Mount. He has one year left on his contract.

In light of that it's no surprise that 30m for Colwill was turned down.

I'm glad we made the bid, I wouldn't be averse to a second one being made in a 'are you sure he's not for sale' way. Then if that's rejected move on.

They may want 80m for Mount now. Whether anyone wants to pay that is a different question. They need to raise sufficient funds to cover FFP by the end of this month (Mount's sale would assist with that), so they will have to accept what the highest bidder pays before then in all probability, and the situation is enhanced in that Mount only has one more year of his contract left, so could go for a free next summer. Chelsea are simply not in the best position to make demands at present.
