I do understand that and was for instance aware that Duffy qualifies as home grown due to signing so young for Everton, but I was surprised to find out that Murphy does not qualify.

The rule applies to clubs affiliated with the FA or the FA of Wales; Scottish clubs do not count.

Knockaert seems to be over his injury but it's now Brown Kayal and Baldock currently disabled.

What the seriousness of their condition is who knows as it seems the club policy is one of obfuscation.

Brown doesn't need to be named, but there must be a chance that Kayal or Baldock misses the 1st half season squad

Can see our right back being a u21 - Gomes or maybe the lad at spurs type loan signing. Can't see us signing someone for a couple of million to sit on the bench. Czech guy is also there and rosenoir.

One of Murphy or skalak will be sold last minute I think, probably skalak.

I would like to see James Tilley get a space on the bench. He seems to know where the goal is and could be a surprise package in the PL.

Does he have to take one of the 25 man squad places or is he exempt due to him being home grown?

Me too - and he would be exempt, I think, not because he is home grown, but because of his age. I'd like to see Connolly get a chance on the bench sometime too. It would be good to see some of our young attacking players at least on the fringes of the first team.

It is worth remembering that the 25-man squad is allowed a maximum of 17 non-Home Grown Players (HGP). At the moment with [MENTION=25402]Blue Valkyrie[/MENTION]'s list we are okay, as by my reckoning there are 9 HGPs in the squad: Rosenior, Dunk, Duffy, Goldson, Stephens, Sidwell, March, Murray and Baldock.

However, there has been speculation that Goldson might go out on loan. If that happened, we would be at the (lower) limit of HGPs in the 25-man squad. I don't believe there is any indication that Baldock WON'T make the squad, but if he didn't (combined with a Goldson loan) we would either have to bring in another HGP (possibly the third 'keeper) or name less than 25 players.

Also worth bearing this all in mind for future squads (February and, hopefully, next season).
