IMO the idea of seeing Shane Duffy's left foot is more frightening than thrilling, but if you say so..
Geez, what are you smoking today? Who said anything about Duffy, and what's that got to do with the likelihood of finding a new home for Clarke if we want to?

....and, for the record, whatever you think it is, no, I don't say so!

Loans out ( maximum 8 to overseas clubs ): Adingra (RUSG), Rushworth (2025/Lincoln), Roberts(2023?/Derby), Sima (2025/Angers)
Sales in this window: Enciso (2026), Adingra (2026)
Sales out this Window: Bissouma ( Spurs ), Cochrane ( Hearts )

The wording "Sales in this window" is doing my head in. I keep reading it as "sales during this window" until I read "Enciso" and then re-calibrate my interpretation to "Purchases in this window".

Any chance you can change it?

When you quoted me it was a quote about Shane Duffy, as clearly seen. Nowt a word on Clarke.

The question is not about what I smoked but how far the decompostion of your brain has progressed.

Fiveways
50 Days of the window to go !! and 25 days to Man United (A) so time to take stock here...

Current reporting suggesting that Andone, Connolly, Khadra, Richards, and of course Ostigard also seeking clubs elsewhere either on loan or permanently. You'd presumably add Duffy to that list given his World Cup / game time ambitions leaving Van Hecke to replace him.
Karbownik not in Portugal suggesting that he too is not part of Potter's 22/23 plans and i guess Clarke too.
And then its hard to tell which of the youngsters are going to step up and be regular squad players this season (Turns , Leonard , Offiah ? ) as opposed to trying their luck in the EFL etc.

So signs that the 25 + featured u21s is starting to take shape.

My sense is we have Van Hecke, Enciso, Mitoma, Undav, Sarmiento, and Koslowski as our new (Sarmiento is effectively new) squad faces for 22/23 - perhaps one of those will be loaned (Enciso ? ). Thats a far stronger squad overall (even with Biss exit) .
Tough decision to be made about Ferguson (game time loan somewhere ? , or 4th choice striker ? ) .
And more incoming is dependent on presumably Cucurella and / or injuries and/or 1-2 young loanee punts if our smart recruiters spot one. .
And presumably contracts (we hope) pending for Mac, Trossard, Ferguson ? , Maupay and the big one - Cucurella. (well why not ? )

Thanks Chailey. Yes, it is taking shape. My suspected outs of those that aren't u21s (or don't make the 25 cut) are:
-- one goalkeeper, probably McGill
-- probably all 3 CBs of Duffy, Clarke and Ostigard (although I can see Clarke staying -- see below)
-- Richards
-- Andone, Zeqiri and Connolly of the forwards

If all those go, that's 8 out, leaving 21 announced in the 25. That'd leave us light at CB -- which is why I'm speculating that Clarke might stay. I also think we'll get (at least) one 'big' signing that features in the first team squad when fit (eg Camara). I also think that there will be one or two of the wide attacking forwards that are loaned out (Khadra the most likely, and perhaps even one of Sarmiento, Enciso or Mitoma), as we seem over-represented in that department at present.
I've veered onto u21 territory, so think that the following might also be loaned (or even sold, although that's less likely): Karbownik, Kozlowski, Ferguson.
Then there's the question of whether the following will be better served out on loan, or playing for our u23s and back-up for the first team squad in case of injury, etc: McGill, Offiah, Turns, Jenks, Leonard.

Brain's fine, thanks.

Was following the discussion in posts 170, 171, and 173 about Clarke - didn't see your post which switched the discussion (for some) to Duffy - and post 177 followed on perfectly from the other three, if you didn't spot that someone had changed the subject - '[assume Clarke] Still likely to exit...' but 'willing to take him on PL wages, etc.'

Looking at the squad as it currently stands, I suspect we still need one or maybe two more full back options.

We seem to have enough at Centre Half unless two of Duffy, Clarke and Van Hecke are deemed not good enough, and now also have enough attacking options, but I worry about cover at right and left back (whether Cucu goes or not)

If we were playing Man U tomorrow we could put out a very strong team and bench, é.g

Sanchez

Dunk
Webster
Veltman

Lamptey
Cucurella

MacAllister
Caceido
Mwepu

Trossard
Welbeck

Subs

Shereen (Steele)
Van Hecke
Duffy

March
Gross
Lallana

Sarmiento
Undav
Maupay

No room for
Alzate (who I like)
Mitoma
Kolowski
Ferguson

Offiah seems the only alternative at full back at the moment (unless Potter goes back to his Gross at Full Back madness)

I think there may still be a quite a bit more activity. From that list, there’s quite a lot of potential outbound moves (loans or perms): at least 1 GK, Karbownik, possibly Duffy, probably Clarke, Ostigard gone, Offiah, Turns, Leonard, Jenks, maybe Koslowski, Khadra, Zeqiri. Maybe Richards and Ferguson. And of course Cucurella. I think we’ll sign a left footed replacement for Burns (hopefully the Rangers lad), a DM, and a replacement for Cucu if he goes. And of course we all live in hope of signing the next Nunes up front…

Agreed. This is the shopping list for me. 2 signings needed (DM & left sided CB), 3 if Cucurella goes, but also keeping an eye out for that dream striker signing. If we dont sign another striker, which is highely likely, then I think we're fine this year in terms of attacking options. Undav is a good addition, hopefully Welbeck continues his end of season form into this year, and we've added Sarmiento, Mitoma, and Enciso.

Still, lots of outgoings to be done I suspect. Mostly loans but I think that players like Duffy and Andone could be sold. I suspect the squad will look something like this come Sept 1st.

Sanchez
Steele
McGill
Lamptey
March
Cucurella (or Tag or Gomez etc if he leaves)
Veltman
Webster
Dunk
van Hecke
Offiah
Bassey (new signing)
Mwepu
Camara (new signing)
Caicedo
Moder
Alzate
Lallana
Groß
Mac Allister
Sarmiento
Trossard
Mitoma
Maupay
Welbeck
Undav

Naylor confirmed in reporting (no surprises but there you go) yesterday that Karbownik, Richards, Andone and Zeqiri weren't expected to feature in Graham Potter's plans for 22/23 . So presumably loans, mutual ending of contracts, or sales awaits for these 4. Looks like Richards nearly tied up. And Khadra is also imminent.
https://twitter.com/AndyNaylorBHAFC/status/1549008508347158528

He's also hinted in several pieces now that Enciso has impressed pre-season and is likely (at first) to stay around first team rather than expected loan. And that Ferguson is likely to be the 4th striker this season behind Welbeck, Undav, Maupay https://theathletic.com/3428684/2022/07/19/brighton-transfers-academy-plan/

Still 40 or so days to go but squad now nearly there.

All gone a bit quiet on the potential ins and outs for the 25 man squad/first team front, apart from the Cucu saga (and the fact that two potential Cucu replacements have now signed elsewhere). Any guesses about which positions we might still be trying to strengthen? (think we will, not wish for! - we all know about the 20 goal a season striker!)

I think Potter wants to replace the following players from last season (who have left of may still leave) like this:

Yves Bissouma - Florian Grillitsch
Dan Burn - Levi Colwill
Cucurella - ??? Gomez ???
Shane Duffy - Jean-Paul Van Hecke

You then have two other players who we’d want it sign a contract extension. If they don’t, will they get enough game time to make their free transfers as lucrative as they could be?

Neal Maupay
Alexis Mac Allister

We may well try and cash in on either.

For me, unless we think Matt Clarke is PL Ready TM we should sign a left sided CB and a LB/LWB too if Man City meet our asking price for Cucu. Other than that we are ready for the new season but…

Please extend Mac and Maupay’s contracts. Thank you.
