Asking for more than £500 to work through the night isn't exactly holding the capital to ransom though.

Your jesting right ??

I wonder how many people on night shift get that kinda money, and the perks they receive on top.

How many nights on and then nights off ?

The union seem to be saying that workers will be requied to work unlimited hours over the weekend. Do they really believe that workers will be asked to work 48 hours or more if you include Friday night as the weekend. Does the EU working time Directive not place restrictions on consecutive hours worked and maximum hours worked in a week plus guaranteed rest days/hours.

I wouldn't give up my day job to work nights for a tenner a week.

5 days at £500 a night £2500 a week £130.000 a year plus a good pension and free travel throughout London and cheap rail travel around the country, good holidays not too mention other perks I think I could be tempted.

Its not £10 per week as the offer us 0.75% plus £500 plus £250. Which is £1125pa plus there is no increase in the working hours per week. Funny how London can run night buses but the tube unions just want more and more money for ever proposed change. Time to fully automate the tube trains.

I wouldn't work nights for an extra £22 a week then.

I took that to mean that LU would be able to change the rosters at short notice ie changing the duration of a shift and/or moving from days to nights. The WTD would still have to be observed.

Not the real one
Fine you are free to resign and seek alernative employment although the existing pay and benefits may not be available in a 9-5 Monday to Friday job.
Yes and he's also free to democratically and legally withdraw his labour if he's being asked to change terms and work in a way which he was not initially employed on. £22 a week? Meaning after tax £11 a week? They might as well ask them to work for free.

Are you seriously saying that if your employer suddenly turned round to you and said sorry mate, you've got to works nights from now on but don't worry, we'll bug you an extra £22 a week YOU would just say yes ?

I think this point keeps being missed in the debate. If you are competing with a robot, then you are not in a strong negotiating position. Holding London to ransom isn't a long-term strategy.

Nice to see workers standing up for their pay and conditions
Just a shame the millions that work ridiculous hours on a shite wage don't get the same treatment A Ernest ???
There's people out there that do 50/60/70 hrs a week on a minimum wage....That's why I get pissed off with all this Union bollocks time and time again.

Thousands of pissed up Londoners using the Tube at night especially at weekends on driverless trains. Whatever could go wrong ?
