Well after Saturday I'm not sure that Pedro is a number 10 either. We massively missed the guile and football brain of Gross/Lallana. Pedro is a cracking player but he's not the answer to a low-block.
Didn't we have the same problem with Gross and Lallana in the team? As a clue, the answer is yes we did. Pedro didn't have his best game on Saturday unfortunately, but he's a top class number 10.

A loan seems the right thing to do with Evan, once he’s fit he’ll need minutes and he won’t be getting them here. Let him go and play, mature, and we‘ll assess again in the summer.

So many fans of other clubs a lot of them bigs clubs are getting excited about the prospect of getting Ferguson. It's frustrating really.
If goes to someone like Celtic on loan and does well and comes back then ok, but I can't but feel he should be playing more minutes here especially with how poor we looked against Everton. He's a real talent.

I’m more excited about who we might be getting in!

In terms of departures, Ferguson is still being linked with a loan out but players such as Lamptey. Turns and Peupion will be out of contract in just 5 months, there could be some new contracts or departures.

Lots of rumours about incomings but these ‘top five’ seem to be getting the most bandwidth:

1. El Hadji Malick Diouf (LB)
2. Stefanos Tzimas (FWD)
3. Eiran Cashin (LCB)
4. Sverre Nypan (CM)
5. Yun Do-young (Winger)

Good summary - thanks @Hugo Rune - Add Veltman to the list of players too who are out of contract this summer.

He’s injured isn’t he? I’m sure if he wasn’t he’d at least be on the bench.

One of the worst games I can remember him playing. Stunk the place out.

Anyway: Ferguson. I reckon his options in the PL are quite limited.

We would be insane to loan him to a club in contention for Europe (let's be optimistic here and imagine that we might pull a run together): think of the fallout if we missed out to the club we loaned him to. We cannot be that daft. So that rules out some of the clubs who could do with a striker like Bournemouth (injuries rather than form), Forest, Fulham, Chelsea etc. Villa, Brentford and Newcastle don't need strikers. Arsenal do but probably have their sights set higher. City don't. Man United definitely do but at only five points behind us, again, the club probably wouldn't entertain it. I doubt Palace wouldn't even ask the question and I hope we'd laugh them all the way back up the A23 if they did.

Everton would be a total waste of his time as they don't create any chances, Leicester & Ipswich can't take him anyway, Wolves only sign Mendes players and Southampton are far too shit to even think about.

The only options I could see being legitimate ones are West Ham or Spurs. Either of those could go on a decent streak and overhaul us (less so Spurs I guess) so there may be a risk of us shooting ourselves in the foot if we allowed it.

Marseilles can't be interested as he's not a wrong 'un. In conclusion (school essay style) I really hope- if he has to go out- that it's BvB.

Would be a real waste of his talent to go to the MTL. Celtic fans are only entertaining the notion because he's Irish.

He’s still regarded as a major talent by us (if he wasn’t, he probably would have been loaned out by now) - the fact we are apparently looking outside the EPL for a loan club suggests that too.

‘Theoretically’ (‘theoretically’ because there’s been a dearth of goals recently) we have players ahead of him in the pecking order ( Pedro and Welbeck) and FH mentioned several months back that Evan needs to adapt to the ‘system’ (whatever that is!?). He is still coming back from long term ill health/injury - I suspect it is the medical team/physios that are having just as much input into how much football he plays as FH.

GET suggesting several Bundesliga could be interested, including St Pauli which I mentioned earlier who are fighting to stay up in the 1 Bundesliga but have struggled with their attacking play this season (I suspect partly due to the loss of Marcel Hartel at the end of last season)

Isn't the only striker we've been linked with Stefanos Tzimas? He's currently playing for a team in the lower half of the German second tier and seems more of a risk than keeping Ferguson.

In his present form, Ferguson appears to be behind Welbeck, Rutter and JP for the number 9 slot.

I suspect we’re in a Catch 22 situation where Ferguson can’t recover his form without playing regularly, and the coach is unwilling to give him regular game time as without regaining his form it compromises our chances of winning football matches.

We were/are also linked to a possible move of Franjo Ivanović, who I mentioned at the top of the thread who is a CF with USG.

EDIT - Ivanović has just got USG into the knockout phase of the Europas so would be very surprised if TB would want to take him away from USG

I wasn’t just referring to being excited about possible strikers though or talking about Ferguson particularly but any of the prospects we have been linked to which I summarised at the top of the thread (plus more I have missed!) which includes some incredible talent.

I'd be interested to know which Bundesliga teams are interested in him.

As a big fan and watcher of the Bundesliga, I'd very much be in favour of a move over there. As a league, it's very exciting to watch, there is quite a lot of chaotic football and the defending at times leaves a lot to be desired. It means strikers get lots of opportunities and average strikers like Deniz Undav for example can end up with a lot of goals. It could be a great move for him for career development to experience football in another country but also a real confidence boost as he will definitely get a lot of chances to score if he plays.

Me too - Bayern would be exciting as a back up to Kane but we may need to aim a bit lower - I suspect apart from FC St Pauli (who we have long standing links with as a loan club), Mainz or Dortmund to join Gross might be possible.

It’s rather ironic that both our ex-head coaches are expressing interest

Where to start with this?!

Firstly, it was Bloom's decision to bring this manager in and who exactly has said he's a top drawer manager? He's a young, promising manager who has made mistakes as everyone, including Bloom, would expect.

Secondly, it wouldn't just be Hurzeler's decision to loan these players out. As we've know for a long time now, it would be a collective decision made between a number of people including the head coach, assistant coach's, recruitment department, Weir, Greer and probably some input from Bloom and Barber. The days of a manager making all of the transfer decisions are long gone. We know that our head coach doesn't have that much say over the decisions we make because our previous head coach spent all of last season bleating about our transfer policy.

And thirdly, if you think Ferguson and Enciso would have made any difference to the Everton game, I would suggest you haven't watched either of them play for the last year.
I actually do think Enciso may have unlocked the Everton door on Saturday he runs at people has a bag of tricks and not scared to have a shot,.
Do you not think there is a reason why half the PL want Ferguson on loan? Well apart from his own club of course.

Guess there are a few people on this board would like us to hijack this move so they can have his name on their backs.
