Not as many opposition fans as usual at Brighton station, must have struggled to get seats

Sure to be box office and already been described as one of the finest moments in British economics. Labour finally fixing the foundations of the country. Whilst we already know some of the headlines the devil will be in the detail. Good news for the working class with huge above inflation pay rises to the minimum and living wage on top of the need to balance the bills after the public sector pay increases the unions demanded. Hospitality will take a hit with many pubs and restaurants staring into the abyss. Fuel duty up as much as 10p per litre for the climate deniers too.

Good luck Rachel, do us all proud.

Ok I’ll bite. The increase in minimum wage is a real kick in the teeth for those people who are already earning just above the minimum wage. I doubt they’ll get a pay increase (employers just can’t afford it) so the differential is eroded. No incentive for the lowest paid to work hard if the government is going to hand out pay rises to them at the expense of their employers. More businesses will go under as a result.

I did put in my OP that the impact particularly on the hospitality industry will be huge.
In the words of Sir Keir himself 'let me be clear' many pubs and restaurants will go under as a result of tomorrows announcements.

Oh is there a Budget today? I had no idea. I'm only interested in Brighton Council finances, the national exchequer can do one as far as I'm concerned. Anyway it'll just be the usual boring rubbish, nothing like a Council Tax debate. I used to be interested back in the old days but for me it's only local finances now.

I'll keep popping back to this thread to remind you all of how disinterested I am.

Another ~2 hours to wait for the Creeping Doom of the Budget to arrive.

I hope it won't be as bad as feared.

Gods country fortnightly
Watching BBC and that tired odious lush Steve Bray has obviously been on the Stella already.
I afraid Bray is telling it how it is. Whether we like it or not Brexit was an act of self harm economically.

We are a poorer country now and as a poorer country we will have to pay more tax to maintain public services.

Its the will of the people. If we don't like it as a nation we need to be more vocal, otherwise we are where we are.

So you really think those on the minimum wage should take an inflation and cost hit so those better off don't suffer? You sound like an employer from the Victorian era.
