Employers NI up 1.2%, starting threshold dropped from 9k+ to 5k

With a huge increase in the employment allowance taking the best part of a million employers out of paying it at all or setting a high threshold before paying ers nic.

The cost of government borrowing fell after the chancellor promised to balance the books early, with the OBR forecasting that the government would spend less than it gathers in tax by 2027.

Indeed. MIL was wittering on at that point so I missed it
Details: The employment allowance will increase from £5,000 to £10,500, which the chancellor says will mean 865,000 employers won’t pay any National Insurance at all next year.

Oh. That renders a good three pages of the Labour thread redundant.
If you're referring to the discussion about what taxes are taxes on working people - no, no it doesn't.

I stated that Fuel Duty was an example of a tax that I would consider a tax on working people, whilst others clinging onto their bright red comfort blankets, were somehow pretending it wouldn't.

I even said something like, "I have no idea if Fuel Duty if it's suggested Fuel Dity may rise or not".

Anyway, let's see if Labour keep to their promise to not raise taxes on working people and keep Fuel Duty where it is for the next four-and-a-half years or so.

I'll hold fire on my "Is Fuel Duty a tax on working people?" poll for now though! 😆
