[Albion] Ten games in - our new players

I would rate minteh much lower..maybe 4/10. He is fast but his end product has been awful - running into defenders or misplacing passes. I'm sure he'll come good but no idea how anyone thinks he has been playing well

[Cricket] Sussex CCC - 2024 edition

That was exhausting. I've aged greatly over the last few hours

    [Politics] General Election 2024 - 4th July

Hi Gwylan, just to be pedantic - I dont think Starmer did go to a state school. I'm pretty sure it was reigate grammar, which is the most expensive private school around me.

[Albion] Important information for fans travelling to Roma

I'm on the 07:00am ITA airways flight from heathrow to Milan. Fingers crossed

    [Misc] Older Dads

I was 40 when I had my daughter. Don't really notice any difference and theres plenty of other parents who look to be around the same age. I actually think its better as the older dads seem a good laugh and more up for a drink, whereas the younger parents still have enough of a social scene and...

    [Albion] No trains for Brentford

I'm sorry, but when you comment about train drivers being responsible for hundreds of lives then it probably deserves mocking. As Milano mentions, has the removal of the guard actually had an affect - have near-misses increased? That's the real point.

    [Albion] Van Hecke or Webster?

yep - fully in agreement with most of these points. Igor played well, JPVH is a good player but had a 'mare last night - but it all would have been better if veltman had played.

[Albion] Aaron Connolly - joining Hull permanently

Wow - what a fantastic way to derail an interesting chat Jolly Red Giant. Thanks for your earlier posts but maybe it would be easier to engage with people without the massive chip on your shoulder!

[Offers] Her Majesty The Queens Platinum Jubilee - Official Thread

Blimey the backbiting and vitriol on this thread is something to see. Is there such a thing as a reverse gammon.... I'm sooooo angry. I went up to London on Wednesday and there was a great atmosphere around buck palace, certainly multicultural. My kid loved it. Sent from my Redmi Note 8T using...

    [News] Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.

Some bizarre comments on here, the issue with the money was at first UK gov couldn't repay due to sanctions, then on going issue has been about the amount of interest Iran wanted adding to the original amount. Certainly wasn't cut and dry. I'm so glad those three are back. Do find it strange...

[Help] County Mall Shopping Centre, Crawley - Opinions?

I shop at Guildford, Redhill and Crawleys malls - I would say Crawley is not as busy on a saturday as Guildford, but Guildford's mall is generally rammed with teenagers whereas Crawley is more families with young kids - so a different demographic. I don't mind any of them - a mall is a mall -...

[Albion] Fight on the Falmer to Brighton train post-match

I was on that train that got stopped at Balcombe while the police arrested a young girl - don't think it was football related. Bloody annoying as the delay meant that I missed my last train home!

    [Cricket] The Hundred

I think the franchise idea for the 4 day game is abysmal. The key thing for me is that the CC is played in the summer, so players actually get to play in test conditions and not those conditions that suit medium pacers . It would also mean that those not in the england team are actually getting...

[News] Poor little soul - Star Hobson

Agree - I just can't understand how there is any defence for these types of crime. Bit annoyed that the BBC article very much labours on the issues of social services but has virtually nothing on the criminals who did this. Unfortunately, social services are overstretched but also it has been...

[Albion] Brighton Women vs Spurs in the WSL this Sunday @ Crawley

This was my first WSL brighton game and a great way of introducing my child to football. Decent crowd for it and it was great being able to park so close for free - what a novelty. Downside was only one food kiosk open and that was closed after 30 minutes of me queuing by the fire brigade...

    [Misc] Anyone used webuyanycar.com?

I normally drive my cars into the ground. I used webusyanycar about 12 years ago and managed to get some money for an absolute wreck but since then they have offered me basically nothing for my other cars and I have always found a better price selling it to a scrappage firm - which were just as...

[Politics] Safeguards on food standards have been removed.

There's been some strange comments on this thread - same old confusion that organic somehow means high welfare for the animals and healthy to eat. Unfortunately, its a much more nuanced picture than that but at least UK farms in general do seem to have better welfare than the rest of the world...

[Film] Films from the past that have passed by and forgotten but worth a look ?

How about Matt Damon movies "the outsiders" and the "rumble fish". I remember thinking they were pretty cool.

[TV] BBC Meat - A threat to our planet?

whats wrong with "Ear holes, eye holes and arse ols..." - if you're going to eat meat then you should be prepared to eat it all and not waste an animal. Big problem in this country is that the supermarkets and the consumers will only pay for a limited range of cuts and the rest is basically waste.

[TV] BBC Meat - A threat to our planet?

Some confusing comments on this thread. Chicken meat can be produced with low environmental impact and cost, but we'd have to reverse some of the improvements we have made in welfare standards. I'm still worried by the organic label - it seems to be confused with high welfare and high health!
