Potter was one of the best managers at maximising the 5 subs. He regularly made all 5 subs and our results improved in a PPG ratio.
Some managers just make like for like substitutions but Potter often uses his substitutions to adapt the set up, style, role of personnel so could flourish with a...
What if Duffy goes to Fulham and helps them keep clean sheets and they don't get relegated and swap leagues with Norwich. Will the world explode or does time reset. What if both sides were due to play a premier League match Vs each other in August 23
Across the footballing world there is a wealth of RB/RWB and a lack of LB/LWB. Cucurella is probably in the top 3 within the Premier League after just 1 season. A loan in with the quality we require is unlikely.
Jamal Lewis looked very useful at Norwich and isn't involved much at Newcastle...
No point in a loan for Duffy. He is much better to have as a back up then to send off elsewhere whilst we still pay most of his wages. Ideally we would sell for a few £m but nobody seems to be interested in such players. Similarly Andone may be staying here for the season allowing Ferguson to...
Your Outs all seem very plausible and the Ins sensible. I don't think we will spend much on any of those 3 positions. The LB is the biggest whole, ironically Burn would be ideal at this time
There's too many poor sides for it to be the promoted 3 to return. Brentford (2nd season), Southampton & Leeds (bad end to season plus poor recruitment) Wolves & Everton (only an injury to a striker away from struggling)
I was more suggesting that loosing him may drop us 5 places and mean we could be drawn into a relegation battle. Keeping him and avoiding such a season is worth more than the £15m being offered
Is our squad weaker than 12 months ago?
We have lost Bissouma but the development of Lamptey, Cucurella, Caicedo, MacAllister, Sarmiento during the last season is invaluable. We have added Undav, Mitoma, Caicedo, Kozlowski & Enciso to the squad all ready to battle for a place in the side. We...
You may have seen from the Maupay thread that I'd like to see him stay. Undav could be his longer term replacement but both would benefit from having another striker alongside
The other factor is does him staying gain us any places up the table. If we were to finish another 5 places higher by keeping him than it may be worth allowing him to run his contract down
Unfortunately so. He has worked well in a front 2 at USG but may find himself isolated as a lone striker. Hopefully his hold up play and strength will allow others to get involved and help with some swift attacks
