[Politics] The 2024 US Election - *MATCH DAY*

I think it's a bit more serious than 'throwing toys out of prams' - not just for individuals, but for international peace and security......

Am I right in thinking both Trump and Putin endorsed Brexit?

    [Politics] Brexit

I could be wrong of course, but I don't think there is a single cognisant member of NSC who has an argument in favour of Brexit any more; the sheer tide of anger and/or their own disillusionment has silenced them or driven them underground. The 2016 'we won, get over it' mantra must seem rather...

    [Politics] Brexit

I am shocked I tell you, shocked.... not! But I am really angry at the Brexit fallout and failure of its architects and fans to accept it. To them its STILL the fault of everyone and everything else and not their stupid idea...

'I can't wait!'..... maybe I have just become a grumpy old'un but this phrase always makes me feel a bit suspicious of the speaker's honesty..... Keep going, I am enjoying this thread!

[Politics] The 2024 US Election - *MATCH DAY*

Sadly in this case it is not what we tell each other that matters; it is what we tell ourselves. This person is immovable in what s/he has told her/himself. Those evidence free beliefs have morphed into ’alternative facts’ and that’s become entrenched and beyond reasonable debate. Dangerous and...

[Politics] The 2024 US Election - *MATCH DAY*

I anticipate an answer that a Trump cultist would give. Like Brexit it will be based on emotional conviction rather than evidence.

[Politics] The 2024 US Election - *MATCH DAY*

Really? Lockdowns? You show characteristic, evidence-free MAGA faith in Trump; but if you research and reflect, there's plenty of evidence to suggest that a second Trump term would damage the US democratic system beyond repair. Go on. Look at this with an open mind...

[Politics] The 2024 US Election - *MATCH DAY*

Maybe worth remembering..... More than 400,000 Americans died from Covid-19 during the Trump presidency. 2.9 million Americans lost their jobs while former President Donald Trump was in the White House. Opioid deaths skyrocketed, and the national debt exploded by $7 trillion during Trump’s tenure.

[Politics] The 2024 US Election - *MATCH DAY*

I read Cassidy Hutchinson's 'Enough'; I still cannot forget or erase from my mind the description and behaviour of her Trump supporting father. I don't recognise such characteristics as belonging to a sentient being.... Maybe this Washington Post summary will resonate with those who have...

[Politics] The 2024 US Election - *MATCH DAY*

An old school friend of mine and his American wife (who have been living in Connecticut for the past 30 years) are preparing for the worst scenario (Trump becoming POTUS); they are buying a place in Dorset and will certainly leave the USA if it happens. I too am extremely worried about the...

[Albion] Pascal Groß just getting the train home

I absolutely agree that Gross has become an Albion legend; but I think there are several players (not least Dunk and Murray who were also essential to our early Premier League survival) who deserve the same status, even though Gross is my all time favourite!
