I was completely unaware that there was any sort of comparable hype between Pillars of the Earth and the Dan Brown books. But then, that might be because I was 4 when Pillars of the Earth was published!
I've not read any of the Dan Brown books but surprised you'd put POTE and its sequels in the same category. Not sure what you mean by predictable, it isn't designed to have massive plot twists or anything of the like. I think he does a great job of recreating the time and place in particular...
Unfortunately, we were all crying out for the window to close prior to the season, but this is the danger when you close your window before everyone else does, and exist very much in a European (if not global) transfer market. Obviously we could have said no, and must have been relatively...
According to Transfermarkt (no idea how reliable that is, but lots of people seem to use/quote it), Andone's agent (or agency) has no other players in England, but quite a lot at top clubs around Europe.
Could it be as simple as the agent being able to work this move to Galatasary, Andone...
Obviously the decision has been made that we're better a striker light than having the wrong player in the squad.
What I find interesting on this (and other threads) is the demand for blind trust/optimism/agreement with anything the management of the club is doing. We all know we have the best...
Yeah they have beaten them a handful of times over the last 10 years or so. Don't think I ever saw them win. Remember a 0-0 away in the League Cup that went to extra time, but Aber lost in the end.
 Was hoping this might not have found its way onto here.
Just a freak result really - Aber's form had looked mid-table-ish over the first few games. Incidentally Aber's goalkeeper retired last week (which you have more flexibility to do whenever you want in amateur football), and his...
I'm not sure I fully understand this issue. Are they saying that bet in play markets are exclusively for people who either a) have no idea what is going on, or b) are watching on TV with a significant delay? What about live radio commentary - is there a massive delay on that? Is it illegal to...
Interesting how the likes of Sky, and the clubs etc, often use fan videos from the stands in adverts etc.
If you are live streaming the game, fair enough. If you are making detailed highlights packages, fair enough. If you are uploading shitty mobile phone footage of goals, players celebrating...
I think it's the same problem - money. It's the same reason that the majority of young players in England are coming through top academies, with all the related frills and expenses, rather than through a wide range of local clubs throughout the divisions.
I don't think it's ignorance - Scottish football is at a very low ebb. I do think that the general standard is significantly better than many on here will attest, but that's by and by and a matter of opinion.
My issue is very much the constant belittling of it on here when it is a complete...
Let's be honest, the qualifying record for English clubs for the Europa League is hardly outstanding:
2018-19 Burnley (Olympiacos - admittedly big club, that)
2016-17 West Ham (Astra Giurgu)
2015-16 West Ham (Astra Giurgu) and Southampton (FC Midtjylland)
2014-15 Hull (Lokeren)
All failed to...
I'm afraid this attitude won't do on NSC at all.
You have to refer to it as the MTL (which cleverly stands for "monkey tennis league), and prove how much it means nothing to you by regularly (every month or so) starting threads to decry how shit it is. You have to ignore the fact that there are...
Last year (or the year before, I can't remember), I was chatting to some Ravens fans who'd come over for their game at Wembley, whilst queueing for beer in the tailgate. One white couple, one back couple (they weren't together as a group).
I asked how realistic The Wire was, and the white...
