I read 3 or 4 of the books and got really fed up with the introduction of so many new characters, reading pages of their back stories/family histories etc only for most of them to die in the next chapter.

Could definitely spot them on the telly a couple of times. Don't think they helped the players though...

A 'proper' Brummie accent is not too bad- the Black Country accent is an awful drawn out dirge. People often get them mixed up.
