Not necessarily, I personally thought Barnes was a good player when he was here and certainly didn't like seeing him go as several others did at the time.
Sadly, he was the scapegoat for many for such a prolonged period of time that anyone who praises his time here now is seen as trying to be...
Now that's impressive.
It's all well and good beating the 'big' teams in a division but to consistently pick up maximum points against the 'small' one is surely the backbone of any successful season...which it looks like increasingly like Burnley are having right now.
I did mention the occasional European achievement but I'm not sure that dominating the Scottish football scene is much of a selling point when you're a Celtic manager lacking in Rangers opposition (I think that coincided anyway).
Or maybe they have. Political baiting seems to be something of an NSC sport now, it's all very confusing.
Burn the right/left/commies/fascists(delete as appropriate)!
It irks me that he seems to be such a highly rated manager in some quarters.
He did well in terms of European achievement (sort of) at Celtic but otherwise hasn't achieved an awful lot. Due to the situation at Bolton being as it is I can't imagine he'll be damaged much by his time there...
Occurred to me when I saw the thread title as well. I've had similar discussions in the past with people, that weren't at the game, who were trying to convince me that it must have been due to a poor Ipswich performance on the day.
Fools the lot of them.
Exactly the same here, though I did also let out a chuckle at the whole situation.
Great fun to be looking in on someone else's pain for once (as we've been relatively calm for a while now).
