Thanks. I have already upped the exposure as much as I dare without adding too much noise. I know there is more I can do but it is not one of my better shots so I can't be bothered. Hopefully will take a better kestrel shot soon.
I know. Bloody frustrating that kestrel was.
I had been photographing a little egret (which is all white) and had to turn the exposure down to stop blowing the highlights. Kestrel that had been staying too far away for photos then chose that moment to fly over my head - didn't have time to...
You'd be suprised at how narrow the depth of focus can be when shooting at 400mm F5.6 from just a few feet away. I have pics with the eye in focus but the beak blurred. Shutter speed was 1/1600 which would have frozen the motion blur. (especially as it was gliding rather than hovering)
Very kind. Thanks. Hard to say about the 80-400 as I use Canon so do not know about Nikon lenses. In terms of canon lenses I use the 400mm prime as it is sharper the the equivelant zoom lens. Hard to say about distances - I would guess about 20-30 feet on average. Without doubt the most...
Razorbill taken in Eastbourne Harbour just before Christmas.

This is probably my favourite photo I have taken. Is a red-necked phalarope taken in Iceland earlier in the year.
It was a wild bird and a bit nervous so I was pleased to manage to get this shot :)
Personally I think get behind the team as much as possible for 90 mins then have a show of feelings (chants/banners etc) AFTER the final whistle when it won't affect the team.
Want Hyppia out but the fact he dropped Gardner and played JFC further forward vs Wolves gives me some cause for optimism.
MOM for me (just pipping Lua Lua).
A string of great saves at 2-1 kept us in the game.
Think Walton was unlucky but is young and is being protected rather than dropped (imho)
I have entered a wildlife photography competition and would really appreciate NSC's help to get some votes.
It is on Facebook and the shortlisted finalists will be the ones with the most likes/shares.
If anyone fancies liking/sharing my photo it is here...
Do you use Canon or Nikon? (or other). I use Canon f5.6 400mm prime lens on a 7D. Probably the best lens for Birds on Flight. My son uses 100-400mm zoom but it is not quite as sharp at 400mm and very slightly slower at focusing (although more flexible).
I used Auto Focus (extended centre point)...
