They're really not as common as it seems. Yes, there are hurricanes every year of varying intensities, somewhere in the South-eastern US. Its only really the immediate area around the eye wall that experiences the devastating conditions in terms of wind and storm surge - and a wider area...
Yes I understand that’s what it says. I am saying these charges are not reasonable for what is essentially a single mistake.
It’s similar to private parking penalty charges. If you were to overstay your parking by 5 minutes because your watch stopped, and get charged a £1000 penalty charge, I...
But what is unreasonable is that she effectively made one honest mistake, but the amount of the ‘fine’ (I.e the accumulated penalty charges) is higher due to the length of time it took for the nhs to inform her of it, coupled with the number of prescriptions (the sicker you are, the bigger the...
Just an aside which demonstrates how broken the system is - she is now seriously considering quitting her job as a teaching assistant (she’s an excellent one) because she can’t afford to work. She’ll be considerably better off in on benefits and will get free prescriptions and dentistry.
Thanks folks for the informative replies, not least @METALMICKY for the nhs perspective. It doesn’t seem unreasonable though that if your circumstances haven’t changed when transferring to UC, it wouldn’t change your eligibility for prescriptions.
Where I think the nhs is at fault though is...
Asking for a friend (seriously).
A friend of mine was receiving tax credits and then, towards the end of last year, they insisted that she switched over to universal credit. She always received free prescriptions under tax credits, but it turns out that under universal credit, not only does...
You need wellies. Forget your fancy Goretex boots - water still goes down the top. Save the Goretex for over-trousers and jacket. Over-trousers overlap your wellies, jacket overlaps your over trousers and you are then 100% waterproof.
On the subject of wellies, regardless of how much you pay...
Having just made it through Prison Break season one, I need an argument settled please. Someone died of a 'massive cardiac arrest'. Cardiac arrest means that someones heart has stopped - right? How can one persons heart stop more massively than another? Googling it to try and win the...
It’s weird isn’t it. Generally, the usual ‘9pm’ dramas on bbc tend to be excellent. Often gripping, tense, award-worthy. Every now and then though they throw in an absolute turkey like this one. Really makes you wonder what sort of selection panel these things go before when they're presented.
On balance, I'd leave it the way it is, but encourage the lino's to flag the more obvious ones immediately. I know that is what they are supposed to be doing now, but maybe raise the bar a bit on what is obvious and what isn't.
The main problem with it now are the TV commentators and pundits...
Largely agree. I thought Estupinian did ok though - he's looking more like his old self and the partnership with Mitoma seems to be coming back together.
Calm down everyone. It was an absolute stonewall penalty and there was nothing wrong with the ref. That was a decent performance. Too easily caught on the break albeit by a team that are very good at it, but thats the gamble of pushing forward. We were unlucky not to win for the second week...
